After asking the dealership to put this in writing they quickly backed down since the Nissan Oil Cooler is considered a nismo competition part and does not come with any type of warranty from Nissan. The dealer will only point towards you warranty manual which is vague on the issue. I also checked around with other dealerships with the same response. Dealers say that by putting on an oil cooler will not affect you warranty unless the oil cooler fails and causes the damage. (Which from a legal standpoint I understand that this is the case) From several talks with consumer affairs, by placing an oil cooler on the vehicle that they classify as a competition part that the car has been modified for competition use therefore having the potential to void your power train warranty however the did say that your radio would still be covered.

Hey everyone new member and looking into a 370z and doing research. I own a BMW M3 and I have read about this oil overheating issue. BMW 335i and 135i owners had problems with the High pressure fuel pump failing as car goes into limp mode and is a safety issue. They reported it to the NHTSA Home | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) | U.S. Department of Transportation and filed complaints. Im sure if most of you file complaints here Nissan will have to put a recall out on these cars as there may be a investigation on this topic. Its ashame that a performance car is overheating and Nissan is not helping owners and making them pay for their mistake good luck with this situtaion I hope this helps you guys out.

This is not an issue or a problem or a defect or a... you get the idea. It's totally overblown. For on-the-street operation no one on this forum AFAIK has had their vehicle go into the protective limp mode because of high oil temperature. Some have experienced it while tracking their cars and that is remedied with an oil cooler...which Nissan acknowledges. The sky is NOT falling, thank you very much.

For all the "forum racers" who will never see a track day... get over it. The overheating problem is limited to those who track their vehicle.

Anyone who tracks their Z (or any other production car) knows that the brake pads, brake lines, LSD fluid, brake fluid, and differential are not up to track usage.

Funny how you don't see thread after thread regarding these issues.

I went to my dealership yesterday evening and was looking at 370s. I asked the salesman if they sold the cooler and installed them since I'd want it done before I got the car. He had no idea about and said he'd ask his manager in their meeting the next morning (today.)

I just got an email, which isn't too clear, so i'll try to clarify and see if he is or isn't blowing smoke up my ***, but according to him, all of the 2010 370z have the oil cooler installed from the factory.

I have not seen any oil cooler on Nissan's spec sheet for the 2010 model as standard equipment.

humm....still do not see an oil cooler on these specs for the 2010 model. So there ya go...NO OIL COOLER as standard equipment.

Some of the Nissan Motorsports parts are. You have to be aware of which ones they are if you are concerned about your warranty.

Remember they can't VOID your warranty just because you have MODS, but they will make it a pain in the arse in getting a claim taken care of thru them...

I just had Cherry Hill Nissan of New Jersey install the Setrab oil cooler recommended by Nissan Motorsports. The parts manager (Brian) informed me that it would take 6-8 weeks to get the kit from Nissan Motorsports in Santa Monica. I have a track date in June (2 days at Millville's Thunderbolt course). Brian knew this date was important so I emailed him the link AK had for the Setrab oil cooler kit. Brian hustled and was able to get the oil cooler and the parts to install it. He didn't get the kit from Nissan Motorsports, but was confident that he was able to get all the parts to the puzzle. The chief mechanic (Bob), who works on the GT-Rs and the occasional Z, was on-board for this job. Bob is a track enthusiast and was eager to do this. This was the first oil cooler for this dealership. I picked up my car this afternoon. Bob had attached photos so that I could see the work, and he promised to make a CD of all the photos so that I could have for record and to share.

Cost was $1268.00 before sales tax. The cooler uses an additional 2 quarts of oil. I drove home in slow moving traffic, but was able to enjoy some "spirited" driving for about 40 minutes or so. Oil temp didn't budge higher than 180. The real test will be in a few weeks when I go to the track.
