It probably could but it wouldn't be worth the money imo, I'd stick to the after market ones

Thanks mate giving about oil cooler kit details, my pervious kit was not working properly. Therefore I can try this.

Dang, wish I would have known all this when I set out to buy my used 40th...probably would have just spent a few grand more to grab a 2012 sport touring. I would call "spirited" street driving in mine 75% WOT but most of the time I'm still shifting around 5500, rarely redline it. I am constantly at 220*F and it's only 50*F outside right now. Summers in KC can bring a month straight of 100*........
Guess that means I'm going to chase down a 25 row with thermostatic plate, even though I have a different car for the winters.

You are better off with an aftermarket full blown oil cooler versus this little sandwich plate water cooled oil cooler. Look at Z1 25 oil cooler for the best.

I am in OKC and think I will get this one. I will track the car mostly at Auto X but sometimes at the local 1.3 mile track. Still not sure if I am going 25 row or 36 row. Up here it gets to 100 degrees 30 days or so a year at least it has last couple of years. There are also days where it gets into the 30's and 20's so I will certainly need the thermostatic plate.

I'd stick with the 25-row. I'm doing 30-minute HPDEs down in the SE TX area and I'm still on a 19-row. I wouldn't recommend anyone installing a 19-row in a hot climate, but it does just *barely* do the job on the worst days. 25 should be fine. I'm still dithering about what I'll do for my next set of cooling upgrades. I still find the idea of a direct oil:water heat exchanger interesting. Probably less mass and less hoses, faster warmups, etc. Just tricky to sort out the exchanger and upgraded radiator sizing.

Thanks brother. First person to give me a difinitive answer; 25 Row it is. Do you or anyone use Royal Purple Full Senthetic in their whip? I have been using that in my NSX for a year or so now and its great. I used Mobile One in the Teg. Makes a huge difference.

I use Motul 300V 5W30 for engine oil, been using it for most of my ~37K miles on the car so far. It's a great oil, but you generally have to buy it online and have it shipped since it's not in auto parts stores. The only caveat (well, aside from cost) I'd add about 300V is: it's not designed for long change intervals on a street car. It's got great properties when fresh, but it has a tendency to absorb humidity from the air and turn acidic faster than a "normal" synthetic. I don't ever leave mine in longer than 3 months, sometimes shorter if I've had two track weekends in a 2-month period.

For a street car and possibly longer intervals and more time parked outside overnight, etc... I'd recommend Mobil-1 Extended Performance, personally.

Where I do use Royal Purple is for the rear end, their 75W90 synthetic gear oil.

Just bought the 25 row with thermostatic plate from z1 can't get that puppy on soon enough! Warmed up 40 degrees (weather not the car) in two days here!

OK Just had the oil cooler installed. It works great. With the temps here now at about 40 degrees, it is hard pressed to get to 180 degrees oil temp but, it will get there. Build quality on the cooler and those lines was great. My installers were impressed by the quality of the swivel clamps/connectors. It took 3.5 hours to install or that's at least what they charged me for although I was there all day.

I've been considering having an oil cooler installed on my Z, and since there hasn't been much talk about oil coolers lately, (of if there was, I missed it)I thought I'd ask for some feed back from those who did install one regarding how it effected the oil temp, and anything else that would be informative.

I just installed a 34 row FI unit (Setrab cooler and mocal thermostatic plate I believe). Haven't had a problem with it. Slightly annoying install, but not too terrible. It does it's job. In colder temperatures, I'll definitely have to add a block off plate for about half the cooler I'd guess. 70 F and less, the car has trouble staying above 180 F oil temp, unless you're driving hard (twisties, AutoX, track, etc.). On long highway trips at 70 F, dips to about 160-170 on the oil temp gauge. When driving hard, no issues. I did a track day at Laguna Seca (75 F ambient) essentially without issue. Peak oil temp of about 220, but that was only on the second to last session at the very end and I'd been running all day.

In AZ w/ ambient routinely in 100-120 F range, the cooler is 100% necessary. A fun drive spikes the oil temp up to 240 and beyond very quickly when it's 95+ outside, even w/ the oil cooler.

To compare, the car used to stay pretty much pegged at 180 on highway drives and would quickly get to 240+ on twisty backroads at about 75F ambient. I'd say about 15-20* cooler in all situations.
