Problem with rain and injen :(

Does your Injens have hydroshields (pretty much a black panty hose cover) on them? This will at least bounce the water somewhere else other than the filter when you leave

Does your Injens have hydroshields (pretty much a black panty hose cover) on them? This will at least bounce the water somewhere else other than the filter when you leave it sitting. It really does work because my Celica's CAI sits very slow and water do get splashed onto the dryflow filter once in a while. Heck, I even tested it going through a car wash. The surround was wet, but the filter felt dry.

Then either your CAI is far lower than I thought, or water collecting in that area issue, or you're just splish splashing around DEEP puddles.

It could only handle splashes, but not puddles.

Doesn't the shield kind of defeat the purpose of have a long tube CAI? Not that its no longer colder air. I'm just thinking your adding restriction to the air flow by adding something over the filters and lowering possible overall hp gains. Hope everything works out George.

Hey ok I did a simple test. Two heavy rain days. Car parked both days just turned on after rain has stoped. One day I put towels around the two intakes where the factory boxes are so the water from the hood
Does not drip on my cones. (I'm gonna take pics so you guys can get a better idea where the towels where. )Turned the car on and it ran like new(oh and the towels where wet as he'll). The second test I dint put anything. Waited till the rain stoped turned car on same problem. So water sips through hood runs down the walls of the fender (inside part of the fender) and right on the cones. I will take the bumper off and see if I can get the cones from touching the fenders

ON my g37 i had injens and they worked fined for awhile then I would go into limp mode when my car was outside and it rained.. Switch to stillen (a little shitty fittment but no problems) 12 k miles no problem.

I don't know if this thread is still alive but this is happening to me twice now. First was when I finished washing my car and then today when I drove the car last night and it started raining. I parked the car on the driveway overnight cause it was wet and when I started this evening it was choking and all nights came on. I think I will get rid of this CAI. It's just not worth the hassle even if you don't drive the car on the rain you can't help it but sometimes it will rain.

Sounds hassle to me. You are stressed out every time it rains.

Definitely stressed out. I know we have nice weather in Cali but you can't predict the weather. I already asked my Nissan dealer today and they will only charge me 50 bucks to put everything back to stock.

All this talk about a little rain or moisture is making me chuckle. At 26k mi I pulled my air box and ran the car to 3-4k, then took a water bottle directly to the intakes. I did it to knock off any carbon. Engines don't have problems with a good amount of water. Now, if your MAF had issues, that's a different story. But, all our Louisiana/Mississippi brethren would most likely have more posts like this.
Knowledge is power. :P

Crappy filters? MAF isn't getting any MA when the filter gets soaked? Remove the filters and cover 3/4 of the pipe with a restrictive object you can secure to the pipe to see if you can replicate perhaps.

46k on my stillen G3 and zero issues, even through hurricane-like weather.

You guys need to stop buying this Injen garbage where the filters are so vulnerable to the elements
