What's the yellow flashing light I see when I go WOT?

Noticed a yellow light just to the right, maybe above the rpm needle that flashes irregularly when I go wide open throttle.. its random and I don't see it often.. I don't think it's a traction light because i've seen it in 3rd and higher gears in a straight line..

I hope it's not a knock sensor light or something.

It's the traction light. I've seen it in 3rd gear as well. Turning traction off usually solves that problem, it tends to be rather over zealous.

If you were getting enough knock to light anything up, SES/CE would stay on until you reset it manually. The traction light for the VDC is yellow, and is in the upper right quadrant of the RPM gauge (but inside the dial, not above it). Any idea what the light you're referring to says or looks like? Could it be the upshift indicator? Here's a pic from the service manual of all the lights:

Wow fast replies! Its gotta either be the shift indicator or the traction "car" icon.. Glad it's not a knock light or something! I was worried something was wrong.. thanks for making me feel better guys.

I think it's your upshift indicator as wstar stated above.

Except that the up-shift indicator is red isn't it?

Shift indicator IS red.

It's traction control, which is the VDC. Next time you are turning, nail the throttle and the back will step out a few inches then snap back and the light will come on, shaking it's finger at you. Do not turn the VDC off unless you are experienced with RWD, 'short' wheelbase cars. She's a handful.

She sure is a handful with VDC off.. way more fun than leaving it on for me ;)

I was disappointed that when I punched it just turning out of a parking lot and VDC practically "shut me down" and it felt like the engine was revving up, but the wheels weren't doing much.. Tried the same maneuver with VDC off and got the rear wheels storming and some car rotation action..

On the other hand, VDC could really save the unexperienced driver by not letting it rotate out of control.. I mean seriously, it really SHUT ME DOWN flooring it in the middle of a turn.. it works!
