Not wanting to open a new thread, kind of high jacking this one. Owner manual for my 2013 says oil needs to be changed at 3750mi or every 3mo. I believe in 2014 the oil chenge interval was changed to 5K miles. Heres the question: does this mean that by nissan recommendations i can now change my oil at 5K or does that only apply to 2014+ models on? Flame ready with my suit on guys, but please take it easy

If you want to be sure that you're ok to increase your OCI, then get an oil analysis from Blackstone. They will analyze the contents of the oil and let you know if you should change your change interval

Money is not a concern and Im actually very OCD about these things and like to follow service manual recommendations. That being said, if this was ok by Nissan standards, which im still womdering if it is or not, then i would not hesitate on making the change. However, you have a valid point regarding the oil analysis, so i think i will look into that too. Thanks again.

Nissan's OCIs are very conservative for modern lubes. If not worried about the warranty, 5k (or longer in some cases) will work great for most DDs. If you drive hard and/or live in a hot climate, you might want to go with more frequent changes, but modern lubes are pretty damn tough.
If you're that OCD about it, Jar's UOA suggestion is the way to go. Overkill for a DD (unless you suspect abnormal wear, eg, an older, high-milage engine), IMNSHO, but if you helps you sleep at night, why not?
