Daily driver Z here. I've had it three weeks and have put 3000 miles on it.

All oils start deteriorating as soon as you start using them. When the engine is running the oil gets polluted with acids, water, and other junk. Unless you have temperature-controlled storage, the engine will "breathe" and more moisture will collect. All that crap sits there and eats away at your oil and engine. After 2200 miles, the oil is probably still doing an adequate job of lubricating, even after 11 months, but it needs to be flushed to get rid of the garbage.
And I agree with the others that the first oil change should be done very early (1500-2500 miles). As pointed out, there will be a lot of junk floating around from break-in.

I use mine as a daily driver year around. 37k miles on it. Change the oil every 3,750 miles or three months whiich ever comes first. I don't believe in garage ornaments. Have some fun, drive it!

If you don't want to DIY, take it to a dealer so they will have an official record of your maintenance on the remote chance your engine ever has any issues and need to make a warranty claim.

Change Based on oil used---
Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec Edge at 15K Amsoil at 25K I DD 50 miles, use to be 105 a day. SC for 38K miles with a 25 row Oil Cooler. 56K on car right now. NO Problems, I drive the car hard each day. 5-7 PSI of boost 2 to 5 times each way. No WOT longer than 3-5 seconds in 2nd/3rd gear, any longer would be to extreme on the street. I do not track. When I did SCCA would change after 3 events, 20 years ago, not in the Z! Note: Castrol Syntec Edge, I got some on my hands and it took 3 days to get it off. Same weekend I also did Mobil 1 in my wife's car and it washed right off.

I just did an oil analysis with Blackstone Labs and at 5,000 miles the tech said I could extend to 7,000 on 5w30 royal purple. I do have a z1 25 row oil cooler so I'm sure that contributes to longer oil life.
