what can kill the cruise control?
hey guys, i am trying to track down my stupid hesitation. one of the symtoms i noticed is that the cruise control would go out from time to time, most likely during one of the misfire. my question is does anyone know what the ecu reads as a cutoff for the cruise control. i assume it is the brake switch, clutch switch. now what about fuel timing and all the others? thx

Hmmm...when are you using your CC??? I only use it while cruising on an open freeway. Not sure why anyone would be pressing the clutch to kill it, when tapping the brakes makes more sense, or simply turning CC off. If you're car is misfiring that's a separate issue you should look in to.

thats what i am trying to do. the cruise control kills itself, i wantt to find out what sensor or switch is making it do that. i already tightened my brake pedal sensor, but it is still doing it. the car is not throwing a cel, need to do everything i can to find it. nissan wont recogjnize the problem until the cel is on, so going to them would be a waste of my time

they will try everyway to avoid it or claim they dont feel it even though the car can buck like crazy. i recorded videos and am getting a datalogger tomorrow to see what the hell the car is doing. of course intermittent problem never shows up when you are tgere
nissan makes good cars, but their intermitten problems and customer service drives me nuts. plus if i give them the car now, i could be without a car for two weeks during the summer months. i am hoping it will go away on its own or get worse before i take it in november for some work |

i am waiting on my obd2 datalogger to see if i can find spikes in throttle position. i still think it might be fuel pressure since tps position doesnt cancel cruise control

My cruise control was shutting off last summer and the Nissan dealer had to replace a few parts. Now it is happening again and I have made an appointment with the Nissan dealer to find a solution.

i dont have the specifics, but only 4 main things control it. it should be easy to track if you have no error codes, i would look into the brake switch first.

From the service manual, not sure if this helps:
CANCEL OPERATION When any of following conditions exist, cruise operation will be canceled. • CANCEL switch is pressed • More than 2 switches at ASCD steering switch are pressed at the same time (Set speed will be cleared) • Brake pedal is depressed • Clutch pedal is depressed or gear position is changed to neutral position. (M/T models) • Selector lever is the N, P, R position (A/T models) • Vehicle speed decreased to 13 km/h (8 MPH) lower than the set speed • TCS system is operated When the ECM detects any of the following conditions, the ECM will cancel the cruise operation and inform the driver by blinking indicator lamp. • Engine coolant temperature is slightly higher than the normal operating temperature, CRUISE lamp may blink slowly. When the engine coolant temperature decreases to the normal operating temperature, CRUISE lamp will stop blinking and the cruise operation will be able to work by pressing SET/COAST switch or RESUME/ ACCELERATE switch. • Malfunction for some self-diagnoses regarding ASCD control: SET lamp will blink quickly. If MAIN switch is turned to OFF while ASCD is activated, all of ASCD operations will be canceled and vehicle speed memory will be erased. |
