Mobil 1, 6k intervals, quick yes or no

no flaming, complaining, lectures, why or why not. Simple. Whos running full synthetic and going 5k-7k intervals.

If you are changing every 3k good for you, no opinion needed.

I am at 5300 now, oil color and level looks good, thinking of going a few more weeks to 6k

Live in Florida. Last oil change was March 5

Run a UOA on it. Guarantee it will change your mind.

kenchan 07-21-2011 12:43 PM

yep, i only change my oil once a year since i only put about 4-5k tops per year. :)

USMCASA 07-21-2011 12:44 PM

if you're not tracking it, you're fine

kenchan 07-21-2011 12:46 PM

btw, AK warned no more oil threads... just sayin

MacCool 07-21-2011 12:47 PM

Although synthetic oil has slightly better shear stability than current Group II base stock oils, it doesn't have any better detergent capability. There's nothing wrong with running synthetic in your car, but going beyond Nissan's drain intervals is unwise.

This isn't meant to be an oil thread, just a quick hitter with a few posts over a few hours then he can shut it down no worries. This was a little more specific topic though so it should get handled pretty quick with limited discussion.

I change every 6 months.

Brutal 370Z 07-21-2011 01:06 PM

I've done that with my G37 for almost 4 years now. not one problem

cossie1600 07-21-2011 01:21 PM

I do it early simply to keep my warranty....

delusional 07-21-2011 01:24 PM

i usually do 5k intervals on my mobil1. but 6k shouldn't hurt your car at all.

Juruki 07-21-2011 01:37 PM

yes

MC 07-21-2011 02:19 PM

i think its fine....mobil1 synthetic is what the GTR runs and its intervals were 6K miles and are now 9k Miles.. not tracked

Because if you're still on warranty, they'd use any excuse NOT to fulfill the warranty.

oleg 07-21-2011 02:41 PM

when should you do your first change?
