Freezing start up. idle RPM question

I don't mind 1300 RPM after starting but when the weather gets very cold
the motor races to 2000-ish for a bit....for politicians I guess.

What can I easily fiddle with to get the cold (very) start RPM reasonable? Somewhere there's a cold start fast idle device I guess, but I can't see it.

Thanks, Fritz.

it is all computer controlled. no new cars have any idle adjustments. higher idle warms up the engine quicker for better fuel mileage. there is nothing you can or should do.

There is a table in the ECU that sets the idle rpm based on coolant temperature. The colder the coolant temp, the higher the rpm, to get the engine to warm up faster. You can edit this table with uprev, but there's really no reason to alter the idle settings on a stock block.

Thank-you both:

But this is something I should do ,,, and ultimately will do, if only because I shouldn't! Cold motors deserve something better.

Uprev may well be the way to go, thanks ChipsWithDips. (And if only I could dump Brake Assist with that, then Uprev would be a "steal"!)....dreams.

Regards, Fritz
