Oil temp questions
I went out today for a bit to run some errands, the temp today is 90 degrees and sunny. I know that people with the 370 have oil temp issues, but I thought I would ask after doing a search for what "normal" oil temps are, I found a bunch of different answers.
I will put it this way... most of the driving was on back roads at 50 mph, and some town driving... even on the 50 mph roads with the cruise on the car was running about 210 degrees. When I got back I called my local dealer and I told them about the airbag light not going off when my Fiancee gets in the car, and that the oil temps seemed very high for the kind of driving I was doing. I mean I didn't even go over 3k rpms... it's a little ridiculous. I said " I guess you all will have to put another oil cooler in the car or something because i'm not paying for an aftermarket one. I am almost willing to bet they blame it on the car not being broken in... either way though, what is "normal" for our cars? I have an appointment on Tuesday to have it looked at. |

After my morning commute (~80 degrees out) oil temp is ~225. You really have nothing to worry about there.
The airbag thing is pretty weird though...

Ok all, went out to run some errands again today. 90-95 degrees (car said 95, phone said 90) and NORMAL driving... no getting on it at all... driving the speed limit everywhere 30-55 a lot of backroad driving. Oil temp 220 degrees. That seems quite excessive for this kind of driving IMO.
Going to email Nissan right now. |

Honestly, if you start seeing 240-250 under those driving conditions then you might have something to say, but 220 is completely normal.

Just for info sake I was just running oil temps of 200 at 94 degrees in stop and go traffic. That's with a 34 row cooler.
Edit. I forgot to mention I still have my block off plate on. It's covering about 3 inches still. I really could remove it completly with these temps where having. Reason being is in the mornings it's still about 75 degrees and my oil temps only hit about 170

Hmmmm, that just seems really high... is that what your typical car runs? My last 2 Evo's didn't have an oil temp gauge (I don't know why... seems kind of stupid to me for a turbo'd car) so I don't have any old cars to compare it to.

What would you feel to be a 'comfortable' range then?
