I saw a couple people mention it, but I don't think it's been quantified....

Seat time > Bolt-ons. All day long.

If you were to come to the track and run our test & tune course with your stock 370 regularly, 4-8 runs every month with pointers from instructors for a year, you could cut off as much as 10 seconds off your time. (A driving school would give you as much seat time in a day or two.)

Now lets say you were to take the same car and make a few runs one month, then go buy shocks, springs, sways, a differential, A CAI kit, some HFC, exhaust, and heck throw in a tune too.

If you spend the whole year putting parts on the car (rather than getting seat time) and come back to test it out a year later, you might shave a second or two off your time.

Simply put, "Seat Time you" will absolutely destroy "Parts Store" you.

10 sec off the 1/4 mile, now that's fast.

Autocross. (cones and stuff, like my avatar) Our test and tune course is ~40 sec.

On the 1/4 mile track. Practicing getting your 60ft down is worth more than 50hp too.

That is so very true on the 60fter. It will make or break u, remember every .10th of a second that a car is ahead of u down the track is one car length. Seat time and great tires make a difference.

6K?.... Vegas, man!..... hit the tables to 40K. Mod that mofo Z exterior, then go to Sam @ GTM for a F.I. stage 2.

I'm not a drag racer but launching is an important part of autocrossing that I get a ton of practice with. I have probably only made about 20-30 passes on the 1/4 mile track but even on my first visit, I was able to time the tree and launch well enough to beat faster cars....

YouTube - ‪350Z drag racing‬‏

The orange Z was a FI beast, (my Z is stock HP, on street tires). I thought he realed me in at the end, but he swore I beat him.

If you look close, you will notice two STi's in the night runs. (they were two different cars and drivers.)

Bolt-ons (exhaust, HFCs, intakes) shouldn't void your warranty. Just do what I did, before doing any mods ask around some local dealerships and see if they are cool with bolt-ons. If they are fine with them, then they won't void your warranty if you do install them. If not, then try to find a different place. I was lucky since the dealership I went to regularly was fine with me putting them on my car.

Seat time is probably a lot more helpful than mods, but no reason you can't do both

The dealer for my previous car was putting them on themselves before selling the cars (exhaust, springs, tune).....
