370z continuiously variable transmission.

I just had a stealership try to tell me that these cars come with a continuously variable transmission... I tried to argue it. He wasn't having it. (facepalm):shakes head:

Yep and the car has NOS, free refills for the first year.

I think just about every Nissan model except for the 370Z and the GT-R (and the trucks) come with a CVT now, so he was probably just going off the sales training he got on the Altima :)

I cant remember all the stuff that the service manager tried to tell me about my Z; it comes with an oil cooler from the factory, and in order to remove the bumper we need to take off both fenders too.

Now he asks me things about the car, as opposed to the other way around.

Find another dealer.. asap

DjSquall 06-20-2011 08:03 PM

Wow your sales guy is a genius. Go across the street to the Honda dealership, they'd be able to tell you much more accurate info about the Z.

kenchan 06-20-2011 08:26 PM

the 2011's come with 9speed AT.

Did he also tell you that MSRP is the lowest price you'll get?

Hambone1 06-21-2011 01:16 AM

Wait...they come with transmissions? Mine has a cutout in the floor with just enough room to pedal realllllly fast....

GNS 06-21-2011 06:46 AM

The reason why it's called a Z is because it uses a unique engine configuration specific to Nissan, 6 cylinders in a Z pattern. It says 'V6' because they forgot the extra '-' on the engine cover so they turned it 90 degrees so it wouldn't look like >6, which would mean 'more than 6 cylinders' or <6, which would be a double heart compressed into one symbol.

You can only get the CVT with the DDC option.

kidkotic2001 06-21-2011 02:02 PM

the 2012 model also drives itself just like K.I.T.

Can I upgrade to the DDC even though I don't have a CVT?

Why would you want to do that... You would just turn it off anyway...

I had a salesperson try to say the same thing during a test drive. "The thing is, the CVT in this car keeps pulling steadily all the way up!"
I argued it does NOT have a CVT, and she kept insisting that the 7AT AND the 6MT BOTH were CVTs. I had to demonstrate the paddle shifters to shut her up. Needless to say, I won't be getting a car there ever now.

shadowdrgn0 06-21-2011 05:08 PM

well he was also dumb enough to tell me that all the cars are insured on the test drives, and if i wreck it i couldn't be held liable. so i was doing a hundred something on the back roads..... :driving:

happytheman 06-21-2011 10:11 PM

Wouldn't it have been something if you totaled it..handed him the steering wheel upon return and said "I didn't like the color, but thanks for the test drive"!

Da.Menace 06-30-2011 02:42 PM

I thought the car runs on Plutonium?

What the hell is wrong with you as it runs on fruit loops....geeez:icon23:

Red__Zed 07-01-2011 06:19 PM

I dunno about the rest of the car, but the DDC system runs on a variety of chemicals, including pyramid, magic hat, and miller lite. And if you spill any of those fluids on the front left damper, the car won't run right.
