What is stock hp for 2009, 370z?
Hey guys,
Yesterday, i went for a dyno with just a HKS exhaust and HFC installed. I was expecting for at least 340hp. But I was disappointed as i saw only 316.5hp on the sheet. It's impossible for me to lose HP because the car is faster. So, i want to ask you guys what is the stock HP? Is it really 332? or 290 or something? Where did it go wrong? Maybe a dyno problem? Thanks |

332hp is flywheel. The Z puts down around 265-275 hp to the wheels on a dynojet.
But you don't want to be too concerned about numbers because every dyno puts down different numbers.

It's basically how its measured. Since your measuring at the wheels, there is drivetrain loss due to the inherent nature of moving parts. 316.5hp at the wheels could be as high as 370-380hp at the flywheel. This is just a rough estimate since there are a lot of factors to take into consideration.

YouTube - ‪4 ROTOR ENGINE DYNO VIDEO 1664HP 1158lb/ft‬‏ Then when you put it in the car it will lose horsepower if you dyno it because some power is lost when taking it to the wheels. generally a 10-15% for rwd and 25% for awd because it has to take the power to 4 wheels instead of 2. YouTube - ‪370z Dyno Test Results‬‏ By the way is this your first car? Edit: why would you spend 3.4k on exhaust? which kind? should've turbo'd it with that money. |

Those are good numbers dude. Stock HP is 332 at the crank, where the initial power comes from. But some of it is lost through the drivetrain, so WHP are the "real" numbers. Because some drivetrains are better than others, WHP is the best way to measure power output.
I don't mean to hurt your feelings but it seems you lack some basic knowledge. And I can't help but imagine you paid too much for basic exhaust mods. I'm not knocking your exhaust choice, I'm sure its great. But you seem a little naive to me, so I only want to help you. You could have gotten to 316HP with a lot less money. I mean that with the utmost respect. |
