Damn you, I got quoted while editing How do you guys with side/bottom cooler hoses guestimate that? Mine are top connections.

Haha, no ninja edit for you. I check the oil immediately after shutting the engine down and shoot for a reading between the Low and Mid marks. Mine is a side mount so it doesn't back flow completely but it is a measurable amount.

Check while parked on a perfectly level surface with the engine off for at least 10 minutes. If you end up overfilled, your oil will foam and not lubricate/cool as well.
Ahh.., yes you are correct, thanks! Per the manual, it calls for w/oil filter change 5-1/8 quarts, I put 5 quarts even. The oil sits just near the "high" dip stick hole. I was just speaking in general, my dad taught me long ago about the no-no's of over filling.

FYI - Though were not (officially) in summer, it's been very hot this week, I am happy to say, I drive spirited (when safely possible) and my oil temps, even with a/c blowing at times, has not gone over 210*. Gillian is all good!
