Installing NST pulleys?
Hey guys,
I am getting ready to purchases a set of NST pulleys and I am trying to figure out if this is something that i can do my self or if I need to factor shop time into my budget. I did a search and did not find anything or DIY. It does not look like there is much room to get around in front of the motor. What do you guys think? Garage job or does it need to go to a shop? Thanks Keith |
I wouldn't pay a shop to do a pulley. If you cant find a how to, get yourself a service manual and a big breaker bar. I haven't done one in this car but my experience with the crank bolt is its generally on tight ;)
You'll also want to know the torque spec for putting it back on and the path for the belt. |
I've done pulleys on a 99 LS1 Camaro and on a 04 LS1 GTO and both times the challenge was removing the OEM bolt and pulley. Bolt removal required stopping the crank from spinning and pulley removal required a puller.
For the Z is a puller needed (space is really tight in there) and is it necessary to immobilize the crank to loosen the bolt? |
