KillerBee370's journal
I will post updates as I go and they may land on other pages here... I will try to keep you up to date with the most notable pages right here...
Pages 5, As many of you know, my 370Z has been undergoing ECU testing along with dyno tuning with the addition of power parts over at Technosquare in Torrance, California. I will start by saying that I am in no way affiliated with any of the links and/or companies that I may post here. They are brought to you only as an informative tool so that you can see some real world results of the ongoing tuning and power modding process that my 370Z has been undergoing thus far. I owe a big thank you first and foremost to Technosquare for choosing my 370Z as one of two test mules that they have performed extensive Beta testing on. My car being the yellow 6 speed MT along with another (white) 7 speed auto. I just missed out on Greddy getting their hands on it for development of a TT system... damn! Second, I would like to give a big shout out to Josh at Stillen for hooking me up with great deals and even greater customer service. Lastly, a very gracious thank you to Mike Kojima and 370Z.com for featuring my car (along with the white AT) in their online magazine. Mike really knows his sh*t and if any of you have ever seen any of his rides, you will know just what I am talking about. I will give a brief overview of what has been done to the car as well as list out the parts and gains that have been added. Mostly I will let video, charts or a combination of both do most of the talking. Needless to say, the re-flashed ECU alone has REALLY great results that I think you will be very happy with should you also decide to embark on that journey. (I highly recommend it) Obviously we are beginning to see more and more aftermarket products becoming available to the 370Z owner and this only represents a small portion of what’s available. First a list of what's currently on or has been done to the car: - Complete Technosquare ECU re-flash - Technosquare custom built oil cooler - Stillen HFC's - Stillen CBE - JWT dual POP chargers -- later removed back to stock. More on that in a bit - Axis Super Hiro 19” wheels Second, a list of future parts to be added later. Reviews on that will also come: - Stillen sway bars - Stillen lightweight clutch - Stillen lightweight pullies - If anyone wants to develop a supercharger system, let me know... you can use my car as the test mule Ok... on with the show... First up, The baseline numbers with video showing what my 370Z started with BONE STOCK: 261 hp 212 lb/ft Superflow Model 30 dyno The complete article can be found HERE. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3620/...25914e8b_o.jpg |
Okie dokie.. the results of Technosquare's reflashed ECU...
Overall gain of 11 whp & 10 lb. ft. torque! Needless to say, I think the results are pretty exciting! Here is the graph of before/after WITH the air/fuel ratio http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3321/...0993614b_o.jpg |
I will posting information and testing of the oil cooler here as well as a B&M shifter that will be going into the car this Monday the 27th.
I will be hitting the track (SOW counterclockwise) on May 9th and will post video and results for all parts involved here! Driving the car home, I kept a close eye on oil temp and it never went above 210. I was driving it easy. I will give an update on a more "spirited" drive as well as an upcoming track day at Willow. I don't anticipate any problems. A complete set of PICTURES of my completed and installed Technosquare oil cooler unit. UPDATE: I took the car out for some video shooting for exhaust sound clips and ran the car hard a few times getting up to 100 mph on one stretch. The oil cooler seems to be doing it's job beautifully as the temps never got above 210-215 and with easy driving it hovered around 200. UPDATE AGAIN: Took the car to Supercar Sunday today and decided to drive the canyon home. The oil temp fluctuated quite a bit but never got above 220. for the most part I was hitting revs of 4000 in 3rd gear through the canyon and it was seen as low as 180 on the city streets in stop and go traffic. Air temps were cool today and that no doubt always helps but I don't see any future problems with oil temps for my Z! |
JWT dual POP Charger intake:
Ok so here's the deal. I purchased a set of these and they went on the car for testing. THIS is the complete article on these. http://www.370z.com/Portals/0/Magazi...popcharger.JPG Bottom line, they are a very well made product that I believe needs more testing. I went back to the stock airboxes as a result. |
Looking forward to the ECU tuning results.
|
Huge expectations for the tuning software now, dont disappoint me! ;)
No, I am very eager to see your results! |
i have a feeling the above 5500rpm will show more of a mild increase with tuning compared to 2000-5000 area... i think by tuning out the emissions crap and letting those valves open up will show huge gains in the low to mid range.. cant wait to see!!
|
I am calling 30whp.
|
I have a feeling with tune we will see #'s in the 320's ;)

I'll say 23.7 or 26.1whp
|
in for the results!
|
Let's get a contest going for an exact number (just on the ECU tune). Winner gets bragging rights.
Results are coming... stay tuned. |

I'll say 25 whp, but lets hope for more :) |
22.7
|
ok if we are going to be exact. 27.4hp.
|
The regional Nissan warranty rep told me he was betting on 29.1:tup:
|
Recent update in ECU section!! Excact numbers are coming!!
|
The gains from tuning look to be substantial. That's pretty sweet!
|
I'd say 15-20whp and wtq throughout most of the band. Very nice!
|
50whp? How much, paypal ready.

My guess is the black lines are after he did the supporting mods (similar to yours, semtex, mine etc etc) and the red line was the technosquare tune off those mods...
Looks like originally he was 260-265ish and then with mods (?) hit 300ish then with chip = 315ish ? Either way i'd like to see the AF ratios then I have my paypal/CC in hand to order :) |
|
Kinda wierd...Looks like he made more than that especially in the mid-range. Wonder if they are calculating an average...
|
Yes I too believe that the black line represents the base with Stillen HFC & CBE and then the red line represents the redlashed results (note the difference in recline from 7700 to 8000).
Even better news for you hp junkies running stock wheels/rubber, you can go ahead and add 5whp to that number. It's the price I pay for aftermarket beauty but one I am ok with. :p |
so how much for the ecu tune?
|
ya. those gains are more reasonable. 11hp is nice. i just falsely hoped for some absurd numbers like what we get from intakes and HFCs and exhausts

Sounds like you had visions of Vishnu dancing around in your head... lol |

Funky tidbit of useless info, I actually had Shiv from Vishnu racing tune my wrx back ~5 years ago. We were the first group (10 cars) to be tuned by him in the east coast. One of the cooler experience's I've had working on cars.
So is the 11whp an average or is that peak ? |
I'm guessing it's an average. I think (like with my stock base numbers) they do numerous pulls and present the average.
|
Well no, theres a HUGE difference between turbo vs NA tunes. Turbo tunes yield tons and tons and tons more power than do N/A ones. That having been said, I did see a 350Z with bolt-ons gain over 20WHP the other day with a custom tune. This tune from technosquare is obviously mild and applicable to everyone...therefore it has to be super super safe to account for the folks who live in 115 Degree summers. A dyno tune should be able to yield a good bit more than 11whp on the 370Z.
Do not take that personally KillerBee, Im not talking about your car, I am talking about their shelf tune. 11whp isn't bad for something that needs to be extremely safe. One thing that is very cool, is that we once again see the 370 making 300whp on simple bolt ons. So we know after 4 people that have gotten the same results, that this car in fact makes stupid amounts of power with simple mods. |
Agreed RCZ. I drove an Evo IX with mods and a tune and the tune itself made a huge difference. Even so, that car was only making 281 awhp (under load on a Dyno Dynamics) so I am quite pleased with these results on the Z.
|
Yup. except the evo had to put the power down through a awd tranny. It was still making more than you ;)
Awesome car. So you made 300 with the stillen cbe, hfc and jwt intakes intake huh? Good to know. That means the Stillen HFC's are making awesome power... |
How much is the tune?
Can we see slightly better results with using the G3 long tubes vs the jim wolf ones? Which 02 sensor reads the a/f ratio and which one controls the CEL light, what I'm trying to get to is if they cna turn the one that reads the CEL light off so that the light doesn't come on for people with test pipes. |
