Hey Mike,

I wrote some more stuff about your car on 370z.com You can read why we think the engine oil temp gets so high! Probably a good tech read.

Question

Oil cooler core mounting question: I see the bracket holding the oil cooler core at the bottom, but it there a bracket at the top? With the lines entering at the top I can see slight moment occurring when one comes to a stop in the forward direction and eventually bracket fatigue. Thanks.

Well that's a good question but honestly, I don't ever see that becoming an issue as the bracket is pretty heavy guaged.

Obviously I will keep a meticulous eye on it and report any movement, cracks, etc. that I may see but I really don't think that will ever happen.

Love your results with the temps—further substantiation that Nissan needs to install an oil cooler.

B&M short throw shifter installed today at B&M. So far so good on the drive home. I will keep regular updates coming with this product.

How much of a difference over stock do you feel? A short throw shifter is an upgrade I am looking to do early, but not completely up on who provides what in the Nissan world.

Default UPDATE: B&M Short Throw Shifter

Well after driving the car about 40 or so miles today, it felt great. The throw is much shorter and provides for very quick shifts. The stock throw wasn't bad but this is noticably shorter and is fast. Most notably during WOT when you don't want to lose any momentum.

Some of the things I had heard from the 350 crowd was that it is noisy, rattles and you lose the reverse 'safety stop' feature (which consists of nothing more than a spring). I can tell you that NONE of the above is true of this shifter in my 370. It doesn't rattle or make any strange noises whatsoever during shifting. Syncro-Rev match is not affected either.

Take note that this is the same shifter available for the '03+ 350Z and Infinity G35. Maybe it's probably a better fit in the 370!

Anyway, I will continue to monitor and report any issues and/or feedback with this unit.

On a scale of 1 -10 = 9

The only reason it doesn't get a straight up 10 is because it does take a little patience to install.

A special thank you to Kenji Takahashi over at B&M for handeling the install and allowing me to test the unit for them.

Glad to see another oil cooler success.

I'm also very interested in a STS.
