WTH!!! My Clutch went out!!!
...Not a good day today. Driving to my parents house for Mother's Day Lunch and stopped at a light...next thing I know when I try to start out is my clutch is stuck to the floor, NADA...won't come up...its out. Push the NEW (just got the plates) off the side of the road. Check out my clutch fluid..BONE F'N Dry...WTH?!?!?!
So i go and get some fluid form the local store and put it in ( I Know I need to bleed it, but I just wanted to see if/where the leak is.) pump the clutch and drips right out to the bottom. Call up my dealer and talk to my guy I bought this one AND my Last Z from, good guy, and he says get it towed down and we'll get it looked at tomarrow. He gave me a loaner too, he teased me with a GT-R...lol...then rolled up in a CUBE :( Well...had a nice Mother's Day drive with mom at least, down to the dealership (30 min drive with her driving). But didnt get to spend lunch with her because I had to get to work. |
Damn that sucks
Blown clutch slave cylinder. Has happened to countless people. /close thread
Sucks. Can't impress even mom with a cube! :D hahahaha. ;)
That sux! In all my years (please, please don't let this post jinx me) I've never had to replace a clutch. Sorry to hear it dude... Drive that Cube like you stole it!
I got a Cube as a loaner too from Nissan. :shakes head:
A bad slave wouldn't leak the fluid. It sounds like a bad clutch line or the bleeder nipple is loose.
would this be covered under the extended warranty????
atleast they didn't give you a versa like they did with me

I got the Versa too after the short block failed. I tried to wring out some performance using the automatic shift like a manual. Mostly failed.
Do our cars have the ability to go into neutral after the clutch fails? Do we even have physical linkages or is it like the throttle? |

They need to have Maximas or Altima 3.5s as loaners. |
Well, Modme was right...Blown clutch slave cylinder. I should have it back tomarrow and of course all covered under warrenty (only 7500 miles on the car).
What was sad was he teased me with one of the 6 GT-R's sitting gathering dust in the showroom...lol |
sounds good, SoCalZ! so, watz the verdict on the Cube? :icon17:
How common of an issue is this? What are some symptoms?

Did you read the OPs first post? "...when I try to start out is my clutch is stuck to the floor, NADA...won't come up...its out. Push the NEW (just got the plates) off the side of the road. Enough with the Versa comments, I have one as my second car. LOL
clutch fluid leakage from the bellhousing, clutch getting stuckto the floor, engagement point sinking down to near the floor with very little clutch wear, common enough on several nissan models to piss people off but not enough for nissan to have a PR field day and have to do another recall like the did with the first revup and hr 350's

So I reiterate, is there a symptom that drivers can look out for that could indicate a possible clutch failure? The actual failure is not a symptom when it's already happened. Edit: 1Slow370Z described it well. Thanks. |
also when see the signs it may blow the next time you push the clutch, it may last another year.

Sorry for the late reply. They looked at it on Monday and said they would have it fixed that afternoon or noon the next day, dependonding on how fast they can get the part. I told them Tuesday would be good due to me working nights. Checked up late the next morning and they said they should have it ready by 3. They did. All in all Great experience with them at Connel. The clutch feals WAY better now, more smooth. I remember getting a slight clanking sound often when engaging the clutch and read on these forums somewhere that it was somewhat normal for Z's. Now no sounds and all and very very smooth. Only problem is now....(I don't know why or who did it, I KNOW IT WASN'T ME!!!) they loosened the gas cap and now getting the "Service Engine" light which the manual says "It SHOULD go off in a couple trips." Its been 3 days and more than a couple trips. Called them up and they said it averages out to about 20 "cold starts" to go off.
Oh , and I did ask them what or if there was anything I did to cause this. They said it's just a thing that happens and it's uncommon. Nothing I did.
