I removed the spring and reattached the holder just so I dont lose any of the parts Its not a bad thing to have it attached with out the spring right? I cant see how it would be.

Just tested it without the spring, Wow what a difference. Just like others I wonder what Nissan was thinking with this design.
The thing about leaving it in there with No spring is it will creek and make some noise when you press it sometimes. but I can live with it till ES4 sends me my upgrade

My helpful hint, use a Zip tie to hold down the clutch peddle then you have both hands free.

Are there any good guides to show a step by step installation of these springs?

There is a small C clip at the end of the pin on the bottom of the assembly, use a small flat head or needle nose pliers to remove this clip, it spins freely on the pin so just spin it around until its facing the proper direction to pull/pop it off. Press the clutch pedal in, this will remove the tension on the spring and the pin, use a pair of pliers to push the pin out as far as you can, then grab it from the other end with the pliers and wiggle the pin out. Once the pin is out, the assembly can be removed, it should fall out with the stock spring. The top of the assembly will remain in, this has a rod on the end of it, and a small spring will likely still be attached to this because of the grease. Place the black cup into the top of the new spring and the bottom of the assembly into the bottom of the spring, ensure the small black spring is still on the rod, if not just stick it in the top of the black cup. Press the clutch pedal in again and then install the entire assembly onto the top part that is still there, slide it over the rod (thats what she said). Push the bottom onto the clutch pedal mount, it will stay in place. With the clutch pedal still depressed, slide the pin into the bottom of the assembly, wiggle it/the spring and it should go in pretty easily. Re-install the c-clip using the needle nose pliers. I hope this helps! |
