I've been farily easy on her but once in a while get on her for a run up to 5k rpm. She did it perfectly and seemed to enjoy it.

550 miles, finally pulled to 7.5k rpms
I've been farily easy on her but once in a while get on her for a run up to 5k rpm. She did it perfectly and seemed to enjoy it. Today I ran up to 7.5k rpm and all is good. Oil temps went up during the run but cooled down afer a few minutes.
She has about 575 miles on her now... |

Some will tell you that today's engines are broken in as soon as they leave the factory. Others will say not. If it were me, as it was about a year ago, I'd lay off of the high rev runs a while. Think Nissan suggests over 1000 miles or so. Probably not bad advice to follow.

No proof that you should keep it under 4k for the first 1000 or so miles to prevent problems.
How did you drive your car out the dealer? |

I also break them in very slow. So far 2700 miles on the clock and took it to 6000-7000 rpms twice. I Shift at 3000rpms (Max 4000rpms)...I'm always gentle on the engines

I took it easy for the first 1k ish miles. But I did get on it a few times. All is good for now.

Drove it like i stole it from day 1. HP numbers are where they should be if not higher. Engines are broken in on the dyno prior to delivery. If anything heavy lug is much harder on your engine than a quick sprint to redline.

How many of you guys went to the drags and see those guys tear a 8000hp engine down to the block hone it install new rings, bearing, gaskets then put it together fire up then go to the starting line only to run 3 seconds @ 300mph+. So much for a slow easy break in.

The purpose may be different but the result is the same "no easy break in for the rings to seat"if not then the top 2 compression rings would not have sealed properly to achieve 3sec 300mph.

A lot of the benefit of a slow engine break in is actually allowing proper break in for the transmission and differential. The engine is generally well broken in from the factory. I give it a chance to the seat the rings properly with a couple pulls and engine braking, but after that, the car gets driven gently for 1200 miles or so, and then all fluids are changed.
