Running Rich?

My Z seems to like/enjoy running rich. My exhaust tips get dirty fairly quick and I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this or not. The dirt is not slimy as burning oil would indicate; it is more sooty.

Thanks in advance and today is my 370's one year birthday.

you should be running lean with test pipes...not rich...unless you had a tune done to make it run rich...

Don't worry about it. You can get a Scangauge or similar if you're concerned. No Nissan dealer is going to tell you anything other than "it's normal". They're exhaust pipes...you could run waaaay-lean and you'll still get exhaust grime on the pipes.

I am wondering if an ECU reset would change things.

I am going to look at my air filters tomorrow -- I am at 12,000 miles since I saw them last.

Soot is totally normal with TPs. You don't need to be running rich-- you can run really lean and still leave a ton of crap on your pipes and bumper. You will also often notice the bumper yellowing above the outlet over time.
