Either way, everyone seems to think this VVEL "crack" is going to be simple and is going to yield unbeleivable results.

Well cracking you was easy and yield unbelievable results....:wtf2:

Agreed, plus the pricing is still yet to be announced. I just hope it isn't so expensive that it becomes inaccessible to many people.

IF it even happens, it probably will be.

Yea it really won't be worth it now. Be happy with a NA tune. If not go FI.

it will be really cool for like 3 days, then like with any car/mod you will get used to the power and get bored and start looking for the next way to get more power out of the engine. But by that time you'll have full bolt ons a tune, and no vvel, there won't be anything left except weight reduction. VVEL won't make your car like 'scare the sh!t out of you' fast

Valve timing and lift make a huge difference. It won't rival FI, but it will make a big difference in NA performance potentially.

I'll put it this way: Imagine there was a "race cam" for our car. Everyone would be jumping at the chance to open the motor and put in the new cam.

Well with VVEL tuning, you can just dial it in electronically.

All this talk of touching has me wanting to go test drive the mustang.

Nothing short of FI will do that, but some extra peak power would be more than welcome. I think that some adjustment to VVEL will also open up a good bit under the curve, which is where the Z could use some extra juice. I think a little more freedom with tuning could drop lap times in the Z by a noticeable amount.

I think mid-range would benefit the most. An extra 10-15 whp at mid-range would go a long way for improving the driveability of the N/A cars.

But you're right... the 3.7 is very limited unless you go FI. In the end it's the cheapest and most effective way to get meaningful power out of the car.

I think the engine is pretty limited even with FI, but that's a discussion for another day. :stirthepot:

Another 20 or so horses through the midrange would be fantastic for the trackability of the Z, especially if the powerband was smooth-- which it should be if they get all the tuning figured out.
