VVEL Cracking?

You should be able to get high 11's N/A now without any VVEL changes.

Look at Jnaut... if he runs a drag slick he'll be running 11.8-11.9. That's probably going to be the best an N/A 370 can do.

thats what i was thinking, need more seat time...

what are your plans or hopes for the 5.0?

I'm like 1 second away from that stock, but a second is a long time at the drag strip. Full bolt ons, drag radial, 4.08 gears, pulleys, better torque converter, and a tune should put me there I think. I will probably end up doing all of those except the gears and drag radial. Hopefully that will get me mid to low 12's with good weather + track conditions.

you gotta do gears man! the funnest most rewarding MOD hands down

last i checked, the turbo kits on the 370z are already capable of making the engine put out more power than the engine can even handle with a stock block.

'cracking' VVEL isn't going to be like getting a new ECU in a turbo car. its not gonna be like 'bam 30-50+whp'

our cars are tuned pretty well from the factory and already eek out most of the power that the motor has to give.

The movement of the output cam is varied by rotating the control shaft with a DC stepper motor and changing the fulcrums of the links. This makes the continuous adjustment of the amount of the valve's lift (e.g., the amount of intake opening), during the intake valve event in the four-stroke cycle, possible. C-VTC and VVEL together control the valve phases and its valve events, allowing free-control of the valve timing and lift. This results in more efficient airflow to the cylinder, significantly improved responsiveness, optimizing the balance between power and environmental performance.
It performs similarly to BMW's Valvetronic system but with desmodromic control of the output cam, allowing VVEL to operate at higher engine speeds (RPM). Other similar systems are offered Toyota (Valvematic).

The term 'crack' is being used because in software you hack/crack something to do with it what you want. To control VVEL we will be hacking/cracking the software for user control.
