Rev won't pass 5k RPM

Is it normal that my car wont let me rev pass 5k rpm while in neutral? I was testing the sound of my newly installed exhaust and it wont let me rev pass 5k rpm. However, it can go pass 5k while actually driving the car. Thanks in advance.

spearfish25 03-26-2011 06:35 PM

Normal. If you depress the clutch, you can rev past 5k.

m4a1mustang 03-26-2011 06:39 PM

But you shouldn't do it. The 5k limit is there for a reason. :)

That's because big lumbering V8 Mustang engines can't rev as high as the Z...

Maybe we'll have a go when I finish with my bolt ons. :p

actually you just got me thinking, do you have a tune yet eh?

wheee! 03-28-2011 08:55 AM

It's on the list... we don't have a local UpRev tuner in Edmonton. We are hoping to get a dyno shop set up as an UpRev dealer, but no luck so far. We have a dyno shop in another city not too far away that has tuned our cars, nut they are not a licensed UpRev shop yet either.

But yeah, I know I need to balance out these mods soon! I may just buy the UpRev myself and do the email tunes, but a dyno tune is always better...
