Edit: Menard racing 700hp N/a drysump vk56 trophytruck engine.
Ah hah -- that's what I was talking about! If there's a motor that is worth the swap and will actually bolt up to the trans, that's a lot easier (well, relatively speaking -- still a huge job!)

Yep -- OP will definitely need a stand alone.

The only other option I can think of would be to wire two ECU's to work in tandem. I know that can be done with a bit of experimentation.

Anything is possible with the right shop, right parts, and endless budgets.

99.999% of these threads never amount to anything so LOL at some of you writing a novel.

True.

But I do know a couple of people who have done radical builds like this, so I know first hand it is possible

I also know first hand that the car is usually an unfinished project that won't run and sits rusting on a lift for a looooooooong time.

HAHAHAHA MOTEC LAWLZ you guys know a Motec calibrated for a vk is around 10,000 right? the BASE ecu you need for a v8 coil on plug, fuel injected engine is around 6500 and after software and options you're up to 10k. The are awesome and capable of controlling vvel through driver subboards, but why when you can have sam throw an fcon in there that does the same thing?I would budget this for around 20k plus minimum 5k for the electrical, setup and tuning at a shop.

Edit: if you backyarded it and used a salvage totally stock rebuilt vk56de(3000), hks fconvpro(2000), and did the cutting welding and fab including super custom snakey headers that avoid the frame and the engine bay and steering(1000 for metal gas supplies and machining), custom drive shaft to move the whole thing back so it doesn't effect the balance(no more CF for you, $600), plus EXTENSIVE body work to fix everything you have to cut and have a new hood fiberglassed($?????), interior work to fix the now punched back firewall and center console($????), you are bank into this. An LS would be much cheaper but it would be chevy at heart

As a somwhat less crazy build idea: Has anyone seriously built one of these motors yet?

I know the head can't really be monkeyd with, but what about lower CR forged pistons so it could withstand high boost?

Anyone know the limits of the block and crank?

Actually, speaking of the head, how high can you rev these things before a valve mushrooms?

Just brainstorming...
