Default Oil Pressure Gauge Install

I've deciding I'm installing an oil pressure gauge. I've already found the fittings to keep the OEM oil pressure sensor and be able to add the aftermarket sensor. For those who are interested, these should do the trick and only cost $5 ($15 with shipping):
2113-02-02-02 | MALE BSPT x FEMALE BSPP x FEMALE BSPP
3036-02-02 | MALE BSPT x FEMALE NPT

What kind of oil gauge do you recommend? I like the AEM digital gauge with LEDs around the outside but it's damn pricey. Auto Meter makes many that are less expensive, but I don't want a crappy unreliable gauge. Please post your experiences with different brands.

A 0-100psi gauge should be adequate, right? I can't imagine I'd need the 150psi gauge.

DIY to follow once I get all the parts.

When you start your car, the oil pressure can be as high as 110psi. I installed an oil gauge last year and that was one thing that surprised me.

Hmmm, so I should just go with the 150psi gauge. Sounds like that's what you have?

The ECU monitors oil pressure?

It just an on/off sensor. It fires when the pressure drops below a internally set level, probably a really low number though.

So was it decided that the original fitting was BSP and not NPT? I remember a lot of back and forth a while back.

It's BSP from what I can find. That's why Nissport sells their $50 adapter which has a BSPT male, NPT female and BSP female port.

I've ordered all the parts, so I'll post more when I install it all.

Just seems weird to me that an entirely metric car would have a imperial threaded port for something as simple as an oil pressure switch. The threads are so close in size and shape it can be difficult to tell them apart, 9.7mm vs 10.0mm and a slightly different curve on the thread taper. As I understand it they are so close that you actually can get the parts to fit together, it just isn't going to make a perfect seal.

I was considering a remote sender, something like this.
German Supply - Parts for VolkswagenŽ Cars - VDO Oil Pressure Sender (Dual Pole) 150 PSI

Ohhhhh -- that must the the infamous "oil" dummy light sender.

Actually, now that we're talking about it, I have no idea what a good oil pressure is in general, let alone for this motor.

Any thoughts?

I want a oil pressure gauge myself. Along with another to stuff in the cubby hole. I've owned several Defi gauges. They work great. But pricey. And that's where I'm stumped for right now. After paying for install on two gauges and the gauges thereself. It would cost nearly a grand plus. I just have other things going on right now.

^It's out of stock. Just order the parts I listed in the OP. Of course it doesn't help at all as it lists the threads as PT which means nothing.
