Default DYNO'ed 09 370z MT with Muffler Delete

So I decided to have the car dyno'ed at z1 to see whether or not my "Muffler" removal "which was replaced with piping and factory tips" was hurting or helping my cars overall performance.

For the most part, I was actually surprised at the Dyno results. I ended up dyno'ing, after 3 pull run, 281.89 rwhp and 239.62 tq.

The exhaust was something I wanted to do after hearing how great it sounded on my 350z. The 370z has a great tone and its a great mod for somebody unsure of which exhaust to go with or not looking at spending a ton of money on the performance. I was told that my car appears to have GAINED power to the mod at 3-6 rwhp considering my car was parked and not driven for 6 hours and computer was reset the day prior due to audio work/battery removal.

Below is proof I think its a great baseline dyno to start with considering I have NOTHING else done performance wise as of the moment. Even have stock intakes still for now at least

PS: reason behind this post is I have read a few articles "not on here" about 370z getting 250-260 rwhp and etc and I think those guys are complete idiots. Hopefully this post will show on Google or yahoo so it may better educate the haters

That's a respectable gain, but I don't think I could stand the drone.

The 250-260 rwhp depends greatly on the type of dyno you use. Dyno's results aren't all that accurate at measuring baseline RWHP. You have to focus on the gains using the same conditions. With that, most stock Z's dyno in the 270's-280's. Also, a lot of variables to factor in like altitude, humidity, etc.

There's no baseline so we have nothing to compare it to...

It's not clear where you gained or how much.

What correction facor did you use? If SAE, you probably gained about 3-5 up top.

well considering the muffler removal is the only modification that differs from any stock 370z... its a safe assumption to say that an increase is present as I have not seen any baseline dyno higher than 280 other than Nismo 370z's.

The dyno results indicate that a decrease in power couldnt be the issue, as the numbers would have been lower or resulting in "average or below average range". This shows that the muffler removal shows higher HP and Tq gains than the muffler attached. This thread was only to show that hp and tq are affected by muffler removal in the case that it actually increases both hp and tq.

First sentence of thread indicates that the dyno runs were to evaluate "removal of muffler" and whether an increase or decrease was present. Also I believe a 3-6 hp was gained from it as well.

PS: Drone isnt too bad... Stillen exhaust and other exhausts that ive heard 370z seem to have that issue as well.

If you can borrow someone elses OEM muffler, you should consider a redyno -- then you can compare and contrast throughout the rev range.

I think the biggest restriction is the OEM Y-pipe, so you might want to consider that for the next mod

+1. I'd be curious to see the actual change.

the next exhaust work i actually do will depend on performance route. The idea of headers and/or cat back exhaust system come to mind but again... haven't crossed that bridge yet. Like to focus on categories one by one. ex: interior, audio, exterior, performance, etc

Ill keep you posted on performance mod additions and dyno results though
