The ECU tuning sucks for the 370z. I was looking for some ECU tuning a few weeks ago and I only found the Cobb Accessport and the Uprev software, which, according to me, sucked and not worth the price. Cobb is long gone.

Cobb is worthless
Uprev is far from worthless

Because you can tune VVEL with it right? Full timing control?

Oh no?

Well then it's definitely worth the price tag.....except it's not.

I don't get people's hangup with VVEL. You can tune the car just fine without adjusting VVEL.

I'm sure you can. My problem with uprev is the cost. For the price they charge for the cable and software I would expect to have much more control over the ECU.

Maybe it's because I came from a WRX to the 370Z, but the WRX community was much more..in general. Tuning software was open source and all you really had to buy was a cable ($75) to connect from your laptop to OBDII, download openECU (free) and romraider (free) and you were on your way.

To me, paying $700 for the same thing (with less features) just doesn't compute. However, it seems to be the norm for anything Z related. Charge more because you know people will pay for it.

The Subaru market is bigger. Companies have to recoup their R and D costs, so you'll have a higher per-unit cost.

Somebody already stepped up and paid those costs for the Subaru community.

$700 is small compared to the $1000+ that hondata charges for their honda computers and tunes.

Putting in a new ECU?
Uprev is a simple plug/play type system. Plug it into the OBD-II, make adjustment and your done.

Worth asking. They may be used to doing that due to working on other platforms.
