clickety clackety sound when clutch not depressed
Hey guys, started hearing a new sound tonight from towards the front of the car whenever I don't have the clutch pedal depressed. This is most obvious at idle (e.g. at a light). Sort of hard to describe, but sounds like something spinning real fast is clicking against something multiple times per second. If I push in the clutch, the sound goes away.
Anyone ever had anything like this? I have an 09 with 8000 miles. Thanks. |
Tranmission in neutral with the clutch out, I'm pretty sure you are hearing the gears in the transmission free spin. This is normal. As you say, the noise goes away when you have the clutch in.

If you're talking when you're in neutral, it's just the input shaft free spinning.

There's quite a lot of sounds to this car.

Probably too new, but could be a throw out bearing as well.

Yes its only when in neutral with clutch out, sorry should have clarified. What concerns me is I hadn't heard it until last night and I think I would have noticed something this loud when warming it up in the driveway, etc. Maybe I'll do a YouTube of it when I get a chance, see what you guys think...

^ we all have the same noise. Totally normal.

Transmission oil is cold so it will be quite. Once the oil heats up you will hear it more. |
