rev limiter or something else
7AT
during some spirited driving on a backroad i was pulling away from a 90* corner and forgot to shift while accelerating. I know the Z was at redline and then all the power was cut, it felt like i had downshifted and let off the gas and was coasting to a stop. pressing the gas pedal did nothing. then when the RPMs got to about 2500 power returned. drove normally after that. is that normal rev limiter operation?

Sounds like a fuel cut. Were you low on gas? 1/4 tank perhaps?

3/4 tank, and I was full on straight by the time it lost power. What happens if you just floor it to redline and dont let off? does it bounce off the limiter like wawawawawawa or does the rev limiter cut off power?

youll bounce of the rev limiter, if it bounced over and over while driving it will kick the car into a temp limp mode state...no biggie...just dont make it a habit

With the Z, it's probably best you don't go to redline anyway. The engine makes power all the way to redline but thanks to VVEL you make equivalent power (hp or lb-ft) at 6000 or if you were at 7000.

There's no wawawawawa, it's more waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
The engine holds perfectly constant, no bouncing. It will feel like you lost power but you are neither accelerating or decelerating.
