What size is oil drain plug?

I am gonna do my oil this week and my tools are in storage, so I need to purchase a wrench for the drain plug. I cannot seem to find out what size I will need....not even in the Serv Man! Anybody?

Thanks!!

Oil Drain Plug is M12xP1.25 so I'm guessing you'll need a size 12.

Standard 6 inch crescent wrench will work.

12 sounds small...but I did purchase the crush washers today and they are tiny as well :)

Thanks!!

M12 is the bolt shank diameter (i.e. 12 milimeters). Socket sizes are measured "across the flats" so would be larger than 12. Probably closer to 18 milimeter socket size.

Edit: Looking at my machinery's hand book, looks like 18 milimeter socket.

12mm socket is what i have in my notes (in my droidx). :)

the cover is held on by 10mm bolts btw.

I'd buy a magnetic drain plug. Just another small peace of mind.

Got luckey and it was in my mail today!! Copper washer is not fitting totally flush on the oil plug though. screws down but wont bottom out. I am temted to just use the flat washer that came with it.

It goes on a certain way, flat part towards the pan.
