jerking when starting from low rpms
 

My car has always done this since I've gotten it, but when I tried my friend's G37 it didn't do this so I'd figured I should get it checked out.

Does anyone else's car have this issue? When in first gear, starting from a stop, and under 2k rpm, the car jerks a bit (kinda feels like it's going to stall even though I'm accelerating). If it's just because it's too low of an RPM, what's the best RPM range to start smoothly from? Thanks in advance.

its not the car, its your driving. You can get the car moving as low as like 1200 rpm or without causing too much wear you can start off at like 2k, the lower the better as far as your clutch's longevitiy is concerned. When you start to feel the clutch grab, don't just let go, thats when you want to release smoothly, not freak out.

Yeah, not enough gas. I'll creep a parking lot in second and only put it back into first if I actually stop. Should be the same for the Z. From a light, give it more gas and you should be free of shudder. All manuals can suffer from this.

in first gear at very low speeds, the slightest change in pressure on the gas will cause the car to change speeds, causing it to jerk back and forth. do your best to keep the gas steady when going really slow in first gear. I dont know if you noticed, but in any gear, if you let go off the gas, you feel the car start slowing immediately, same thing happens in first at low speeds, but you're going so slow that its way more noticeable

you have to adjust your driving to the car, because its not going to adjust to you. If it jerks when you do 'x' then don't do 'x' the same way. it can be tricky, but you'll get the hang of it. just keep an open mind when your driving. the car is a machine, it doesnt have an opinion, it will respond the exact same way every time, so if you do something wrong, it will always respond harshly, if you do it right, it will respond perfectly.

I have to tell you that the 370 is one of the more difficult cars to drive smoothly in the described situation. In completely stock form, it is much easier to just get on it and drive more aggressively. Obviously, there are times when you can't do that like when you are stuck in traffic.

With that said, I can't beleive how much putting the Stillen Gen3s changed the way my roadster acts at low rpm (previously lugging situations). They are almost non existant. I can just drive the car and not make a consious effort to be smooth.

I would be curious to know if others noticed the same thing. I don't recall any references in the research I did prior to my purchase.
