I also told her I was thinking about cancelling my 370Z order due in July because of the very hot summers we get in Texas. She open up file #6479687. I got a call back from her this morning. According to her supervisor, Nissan is aware of the problem and that their engineering is currently working on an oil cooler kit that is to be available in two to three weeks. Of course doubting this I asked if she was sure and she said that it was a fact and she had been authorized to tell me about the kit.

We shall see.....
Hopefully Nissan will recall the car to be fitted with the oil coolers. If not I guess it'll be more money thrown into the pit!

I had a manual 370 for a couple months, and the oil temps went as high as 250-ish. I tgraded it in for an auto, and the highest I've seen is 200. Wonder what the difference is.

I've spoken with another support person at that number and she knew nothing. She just told me to take it to my dealer. When I told her about the quote above and Jennifer Irwin, she was taken aback. Apparently Jennifer Irwin is one of their 'top support personnel'. The representative I was talking to changed gears from saying "go take your car in" to "uh, please call back periodically for updates on the situation."

I've placed a message with Jennifer regarding the warranty coverage question. I'll post a message here as soon as I get a reply.

One important note, the representative I spoke with said that as more people call in and complain, the issue will be noticed and addressed more quickly. SO GET ON THE PHONE!!!

Still nothing back from Ms. Irwin, but her message says she'll reply within 24 hrs.

Sent a long email to Nissan they just called me back from the email and told me to take it to the dealer. I explained that the only way this is going to get fixed if Nissan steps up to the plate and adds oil cooling system to our high performance cars that we bought from them also explained my 5.6 L Titan and my 3.5 L M-35 does not overheat the oil.

So lets keep slamming them with emails and phone calls and maybe our voice will be heard !and we can all get the FACTORY OIL COOLERS needed to make are cars run COOL and don't overheat and blow engines

Fingers crossed on this one - but it sounds like good news, as long as it's part of the standard warranty - any news yet?

I talked with folks at this number as well.. they are just $8/hr ppl working a call center... they are sub-contracted by nissan and their primary purpose is to screen in bound calls/inquiries, not resolve issues.

Nissan reads this board... this is the place to get your voice heard.

In addition, re-posting coordinates if you want to write them.

nissan north america inc consumer affairs
po 685003
franklin, tn 37068
nnaconsumeraffairs@nissan-usa.com

Finally, as mentioned previously, we need to work the press... call them

I did this as well, and refused to take mine to the dealer. I also made sure I was transferred to Ms. Irwin after creating my own case number, and left her a message as well.

COME ON PEOPLE, LET'S DO THIS!!

(And don't forget to make sure they understand you want the oil cooler ordered and installed FOR FREE under warranty or as part of a recall!!)

Part Number: 21300-SS370
MSRP: $780
$780.... Phffftt.. I guess that's why they're called stealerships.

Hello from Florida.
Temperature today was 86. I am still breaking the car, in so am keeping the revs below 4K.
Oil temperarature gauge hit 260 with moderate speed on a quiet stretch of road.
I am calling 800-647-7261 right now. I want an oil cooler!

This forum is great. You guys kept me from wasting money on a worthless NISMO radiator cap and even though I have a set of Berk HFCs in the garage with an Invidia cat back and Status-Elite intake on the way, the car will stay stock until Nissan gets the engine heat under control.

Thanks!

$780!!!! FOR THAT?! No...

Sorry, but Nissan should have included the oil cooler in the car to begin with. It's a $100 part in cost. It wouldn't have hurt them to add it.

I just drove my car down to GA and back (~3 hours each way) and most of the time it sat at 220, there and back, in about 85*F weather.

However, when I got into the city I kept the car more in the powerband (between 3k and 5k RPM) for more immediate power (take no prisoners city driving, it's crazy in Charlotte). After about 5 minutes of this my oil was hitting 250. Luckily I was driving right past the Nissan dealer and had them document this overheating. They were clueless of course, saying that it was a bad sensor and they had seen it before. Suuuure...

So I can cruise for hours in 6th gear at 220*F, but as soon as I change gears and run at a higher RPM things start to overheat quickly. This definitely jives with the bubbling oil theory stated earlier.
