Everyone with oil temp issues

Yup....I did it, but can't really say how well it works as I have a cooler as well....Temps havent exceeded 215 here in Hot NC since I did it though!

Thanks, I would guess any mod to move air through the engine bay would have to disapate the heat to some degree.

i dont know if this is discussd already, but how hard is it to hide the fact that you have an oil cooler in ur Z in the case ur engine breaks down and ur trying to recover through warranty?

my point exactly.... so can one remove the oil cooler before taking the car to the dealership to get it fixed and avoid any warranty issues...

Summer has definitely hit around here (L.A. county) with temperatures in the high 90's to low 100's. I am now averaging 240F in L.A. traffic. (45min commute 1-way)

I've noticed acceleration is not as lively when the engine runs this hot compared to initial startup in the morning when the oil temp is below 200F. Is this common? Car feels really sluggish accelerating from a dead stop . I notice that I'm having to give her more gas to get her going.

I've got 6 speed manual and no oil cooler atm and just hit 4k miles. I'm hoping this isn't a clutch or fuel injection problem.

The sluggishness is not your oil temps, but your IAT temps (Intake air temps). It's very easy to hit 150 degrees while sitting in traffic. The ECU pulls back timing when it gets that hot and the car will consequently not feel as perky as when the air temps are cooler. Perfectly normal actually..

My old Turbo'd Audi TT used to really love em... The Z likes her trips to the mountains too though...

yeah i know i havent broken in yet but the temptation is too much. still, at least im not the only one with temp issues even after run-in. i do hope it gets better after 1920km, which it has now.. though yesterday i spotted a small 'cooler' looking object behind the grill on the right side of the car, im gonna go check and see what it is later.
