Just today I had some issues when shifting at highway speeds, just wanted to see if anyone else had any of the same issues?
Well basically I was driving in 5th gear thru slow traffic... about 15 minutes(I'm in cali lol) And when speed picked up I went to shift but I had about 6 inches of dead pedal and the last inch I had pressure.... wtf!? So I popped it in neutral and tried hitting the clutch repeatedly to maybe build the pressure up but no go, pulled over, after about a minute of ddriving thru the streets it came back! So fluids are good, belts tight, the only thing I'm low on is window piss so I'm confues:/ any ideas or anyone else have a similar issue? |

![]() As for the issue it was the brake booster.... so they say which makes sense since all fluids were where they should be, I dont think it was a leak just more of a malfunction, either way sucks for me since I will be paying out of pocket for it since I am past the 35k mile coverage.... lameeeee |

I am using my overpriced, crappy teaching from UTI and my few years of wrenching to diagnose what the service manager poorly explained so dont put me on blast if you think im wrong;/ but long story short I just bent over and took it dry. Didnt feel like being that know it all customer (use to be a tech and hated that!!!!) and just paid the dealer.... missed my girl too much to care about arguing. I dont have the reciept on me but it did look sketchy with a "replacement item" for part description that was 110 bucks and an efing 300.00 dollars worth of labor. I wont be taking my car to my local dealer anymore thats for sure! *update* I have noticed in the past week that my pedal is starting to get softer again and stick on the release... will let you guys know if I have the same issue again. |

It sounds like your clutch fluid need replacing.
The soft pedal condition can happen if you have air in the system or if the fluid is past it's boiling point and that can cause the symptoms you've described. Sometimes if the clutch fluid has absorbed water or seen too much heat once too often, the boiling point of the fluid drops dramatically and will start to vaporize in the line and lose the hydraulic properties of the fluids. The best recourse is to flush and replace the clutch fluid with a quality brake fluid with a higher boiling point. Clutch fluid is the same stuff as brake fluid, if you were wondering. Hope that helps

I just got the same issue, clutch paddle lost pressure. I started to notice the clutch felt very soft for the first half and the engagement point felt like it had shifted to the bottom. Yesterday, the while driving on freeway and coming to traffic stop the clutch paddle got stuck to the floor when I down-shifted. The problem seemed very apparent on freeway, and less for local driving. I when to the dealership and 2 hours later they said they have to replace the Master and Slave clutch cylinders per Nissan Tech Support.

If I were to go through the process and lower my engagement point, if I had experined the above issue xgrudgex experiences, do I risk damage to the clutch? would it not fully disengage?

I would think not.. As long as you make sure that the clutch is fully engaging/disengaging.
I personally like the engagement point of my clutch, it engages about 40% from the floor.

Thanks. My engagement point is a little on the high side; I just want to lower it some, maybe 1 turn.... |
