Coolant change
Well Im swapping out all my hoses currently and was wondering if anyone has done a coolant change since I will need to drain the system? and if you have could you offer any advise regarding it?
as well as anything I should be aware of… basically anything that will help me out during the process. I'm not toooo comfortable with doing this, but I have swapped out the hoses on my G35 before so Im not new to it, but I must admit it was a little nerve wrecking doing it for the first time! but I did succeed with no issues. I've researched all the issues others have had after doing the coolant change such as temp. fluxuation and air pockets etc on the G but was wondering if anyone has a DIY or experience with the Z Thank you in advance for any shared knowledge or input

When I swapped my hoses on my 350 I just drained the radiator, pulled the hoses off. Put new ones on. Refilled radiator and then let the car run with the cap off and fill as it warms a cycles threw. Never had any air in the system. I also believe there's a air bleeder valve at the heater hose near the firewall if you want to open it up till fluid poors out then close up. Just keep checking until you feel it's good. You also might want to park on a slight hill if you open the bleeder valve.

KOOL THANK YOU! Thats what I figured...I've done it on a G35 before, but was wondering if anything was different regarding the process...is that air bleeder cap the green one near the back of the firewall?

alright took a gander through the manual and it mentions nothing of a valve by the firewall on a 370. if it's green cap with a sort of air valve in it don't touch it for the love of betsy or you'll need to recharge your ac. basically it's fill the reservoir, take the air plug out of the drivers side tank of the radiator towards the engine, slowly(less than 2l per minute according to the manual) add coolant to the radiator fill neck until it comes out the hole in the tank, reinstall the screw, refill the radiator, install the cap and warm the car up till the thermostat opens and the lower hose gets hot (stop if the engine begins overheating. let the car cool then add coolant where necessary, and run the car again(then keep doing this 2-3 more times until the level no longer goes down). -Factory manual abridged

2009 370Z service manual
Not sure what has changed in it but I can't imagine it is a whole lot. IIRC there is a link to a 2010 service manual in there as well. |
