Default Twin Turbo specs

So I'm about to make the jump and get a twin turbo kit from gtm for the z, but what type of 0-60, top speed, and 1/4 mile time can I expect from a stage 2 z tuned to 530rwhp. How does the car perform at 2k-4k rpm? Is turbo lag very evident?

lots of questions here to be answered...

lets look at your questions:
1) 0-60 times?
2) Top Speed?
3) 1/4 Mile Times?
4) Performance in the 2-4k midrange?
5) Turbo Lag?

Answers: (this is based on some speculation and 1st hand knowledge *dont take it as the bible*
1) 0-60 you are going to be around low to mid 4sec region.
2) This is dependent on your gearing...
3) 11's or so
4) Like stock
5) Gonna feel like a V8 no noticeable lag

Thanks Bullitt, I've payed a lot of attention to your build the last couple of months and it made me want turbos. Good luck with finishing your build and I can't wait to see videos

A lot also has to do with the drivers skills in the 1/4 mile. There a lot of Z's and G's that have the power to run in the 11's but dont have the drag racing skills to do it.

1) My old G35 only made 350whp, but I managed a 12.2 @ 115mph. I also had 150+ drag passes in that car. Just going by a 0-60 calculator where you plug in your 1/8 mile time, I did 3.55 seconds 0-60.

2) Your top speed will be 155 unless you have the limiter removed when you have the car tuned.

3) Same thing as #1. It's all about the skill of the driver. 500+whp is hard to handle, especially without drag radials. With a good tire/good driver, 500whp will put you around 11.3.

4 & 5) You probably won't see full boost until around 4000rpms. So the lag between 2000-4000rpms will be noticeable...but totally worth it once hit full boost!

Many people confuse turbo lag with turbo threshold. The lag is time to spool once in the right range. Essential on-off throttle in the upper range. The threshold is what rpm do you need to be at to start making boost. But the trade off (and EVERYTHING has a trade off) is that if you want low threshold and low lag, then you sacrifice max power up high. If you want max power (+800hp Supras) then you have a really high threshold and a narrow power band.

I don't know what the kits for the 370 offer. But my previous car was a biturbo. I always preferred the low lag and low threshold---at the cost of overall high end power. I spend very little time over 6K, so why pay money for a lot up there. I prefer to have the power where I use it most. And the low end grunt of small turbos is awesome!

If you want to wave a dyno sheet in people faces, then get a giant turbo(s) with 1500rpm of usable powerband.
