I'd bet that it's only for the sport package. You don't need this anyways. Just learn to rev match yourself. It will make you a better driver.

Its possible, but its probably going to be a stupid amount of money. Why didn't you just get a sport in the first place???

^This. I have the base without sport and love it. The synchro-rev matching is a God-send, so I have heard, but it will only limit your abilities if you always use it.

For me, part of the thrill of driving a performance car is knowing how to blip the throttle and toe-heel.

My advice: spend a llittle to get a LSD for your base Z. For me, that is the only valuable part of the sport package (although the Rays wheels look pretty sweet!).

My understanding is that the whole shifter and other electrical components need to be replaced if you were attempting this transition.

You will probably be paying more to buy and get the s-mode installed...
I'd rather get a spoiler + bbk + rims + s-mode instead.
I hope you understand how complex the s-mode is and how annoying it will be to install.

I'm so glad I got the sport package or I would be like the OP wanting it after I had already bought a base with no sport package.

new transmission, new ecu, new body wiring harness, new lsd, new brakes, its damn near impossible and vary not cost effective, no the transmissions are not the same they are similar just like a man in a dress it may look like a woman but the important bits are different.

better track driver maybe but I don't see how heel and toeing is going to make you a super duper awesome driver.

I know it's not cost effective, but it would be interesting to know who does the SRM function as all 370z's Have the same ECU.

Parts that are specific to SRM Function as far as I know:

1. Shift position Sensor (transmission probably has to be lowered to install)
2. Sports Package Cluster (It has an gear/S mode screen)
3. SRM Function buttom near the shifter.

anything else changes?

the tranny is a different F'n part the shift rod in the tail housing is different to accomodate the magnet that is under the shift sensor. Could you rip the tranny aparat and install the parts necesarry? sure if nissan will sell you that shift rod, and you would need a dealer in to be able to reflash the ecu with the S-mode because the programming in the ecu is different, maybe uprev could do it. the top panel part of the case on the transmission tailhousing would have to get changed as well, all the wiring would have to be altered to add the button, and all the wires for that shift sensor. you would actually be better off to sell your car and buy one with a sports package.

Most of us base owners don't care for those features. I didn't. Doesn't make my car any different or make sport drivers any faster. I assure you that.

However, if you find yourself now want s-mode (another crutch like VDC, yeah..I said it) probably a better and cheaper idea to trade it in and get one with the package already installed.

I have a sport package and honestly I leave the S-Mode off. The only reason I opted to get a car with the sport package is because it came with the LSD and I didnt want the hassle of installing a LSD. If you want S-mode that badly it would honestly be better for you to sell or trade your car and buy a 370z that has the sport package, that way not only do you get the S-Mode but you get the factory BBK, LSD, Snazzy Wheels and your coveted S-Mode.
