Forged Performance: A couple of visitors stopped by...
A couple of local customers stopped by with their new 370Z's. I went ahead and loaded both of them on the dyno.
Bone stock, and Stillen Exhaust/Berk HFC. Needless to say, I was SHOCKED with the results.

It was done on a Dyno Dynamics dyno (DD), which is pretty notorious for its low results. Semtex explains it all in the following post:

Mike's Z just passed the 1200 mile mark (the white, bone stock one). Mine had right around 1500 miles (the blue one with the Stillen/Berk setup). Yes, there were multiple runs on each. I think around 5 or 6 runs on each, if I remember right.

Yes you remember right Ben... I was hoping for 260hp for mine but that darn DD killed me lol. these two cars are as close as you could get in the real world the only differences was mine has navigation and Ben's had 300 more miles with the upgraded exhaust and cats. We both had about 6 runs each with the highest run recorded. Ben's car was consistent in staying around 290-291 with his setup. Mine stared out cold at 248 and once warmed up remained constant around the 253-254 range.
What is most important is how flat the torque curve is and how these mods kept them that way all the way to redline! |

Haven't driven each other's cars. Yes, both are 6MT. Both have sport pkg.

Ohh I can tell you Ben's car is faster lol I rolled on the throttle a couple of times that day and he ate me up! His car definitely makes more power and I can believe the 37hp!
also when we were dynoing my car sat a ok on the dyno however when Ben's car was on the dyno it wanted to jump off from the extra power. the cars on the dyno were totally different animals. Mine was calm and smooth where as Ben's was still smooth but it was almost like a lil monster was growing in their! like i said both cars a practically identical except for 300 miles and Nav (best feature EVER!) hehe |

I tried to do the 'keep it below 4000 rpm' thing but really just couldn't. I ended up driving normal, which for me means that I usually shift at around 5000 rpm. I did make a point to not drive it hard until the 1200 miles were up though (i.e., no WOT to redline). I did take it up to redline during the test drive though, and I should also mention that it already had 20 miles on the odo when I bought it, so who knows how it was treated during those first 20. Finally, I don't know if this could be a factor at all, but as I work from home it took me quite a while to complete my break-in miles (about 2 months). I think Mike took a lot less time to complete his break-in cycle.

Our dyno does read quite a bit lower then most DynoJets and DynoPaks. So don't be alarmed with a 250'ish baseline.
Here are our rough baseline numbers we typically see on our Dyno Dynamics VQ35DE 215-220whp VQ35HR 230-235whp VQ37HR 250-255whp
