Default clunk when pressing clutch in

got my z yesterday.. i notice that there is a clunk sound when i press the clutch to go from 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to third. it's less noticeable if i accelerate very very lightly.. or if i let off the throttle before pressing the clutch.

originally i'm thinking if i just suck at driving a stick.. but i've had a s2000 for 3 years and never heard anything like this. driven a handful of stick-shifts and never experienced this on any other car either..

i test drove 3 370z's b4 at dealerships and they all have the same clunk sound. So i don't think it's really an issue. but i'm just concerned if there's something wrong with the way i do clutch in and shift.. anyone notices the same thing?

Completely normal. You'll figure out how to make it not clunk when going 1-2. Usually by shifting past 3.5k RPM.

When you press the clutch in dont do it too fast. Just ease the clutch in until you feel it engage. This car has lots of tranny chatter, like stated before you'll get used to it. Just concentrate on finding that sweet spot in the clutch.

yea, the key is pressing it in fast enough that its quick, but slow enough that it doesn't make that clunking sound. just trying pushiing it in a bit slower in between 1-2 shifts.
