I picked up mine with 37 miles on the ODO. It is the touring/sport package with navi for 31 thousand after tax. I am not sure about the previous test drives, but nobody rode with me during my test drive, and it now has 7200 miles on it and is absolutely perfect.

Isn't there a thread already?

Sounds like the same as the first time you break in a woman...

"Ride her hard as hell the first time, cause that shit won't ever feel the same afterwards"

:bowrofl:

NOT! I didn't break my first 370Z in hard and it was never in for warranty nor did it burn oil. It was traded with 16000 miles for a 2010 roadster. The roadster will also have a normal breakin. It's amazing how some people try to out think automotive engineers who design the engines and recommend the breakin periods. Yes, you can drive the hell out a car from new and it may be ok afterwards. Or, it may not!

Oh wait! Would you go on the internet to get medical advice or listen to your doctor? Same analogy.

The whole point of this thread is to find out if there is any correlation in how the car was driven the first 10 to 300 miles and if there are any ENGINE or TRANSMISSION trouble now

I personally think its amazing when people get all fussy over a sarcastic statement. (pointing at you!)

hahaha

P.S the "engineers" also recommend oil change every 3500 miles even if you use synthetic in our cars...

They also recommend that we don't need oil coolers...

They also recommend that I drive naked...

wait that last one i recommended to myself

(you should take that statement seriously too)

No NO No! They only recommended that we drive naked in the roadsters, not the coupes.

As for break in, I'm going to take my brothers word on it. The engine may not need some 1960's break in procedure thanks to modern tolerances but the other parts may. I also plan on learning how to drive the car first. Getting to know it and it's limits before really getting on it hard.

I tend to think that it makes it more fun.

people who take things too seriously (in person and on the internet) ruin things.

sonic370 11-05-2010 08:21 PM

flame suit is on.. got mine with 50 miles on it....

don't know crap about how to break in a sports car....

i just drove the dang thing damn glad to own one...

well i'm now at 11,500 miles.. changed oil first at 3000.. 6500..
and next one will be at 12,000.. plan on changing oil now every 6000
miles using mobil 1. once or twice a week i redline the car just for the hell
of it. so far the car does not burn any oil...

as far as the transmission which is a AT no issues... plan on getting it serviced at around 26,000. but i've also had old timers say on the trans if it ain't broke don't fix it..

370Zsteve 11-05-2010 08:59 PM

62 miles when I bought it. (salesman said "and it only has 62 miles on it" :icon14:)

From mile 62 thru 1800 I broke it in according to the manual.

Zero issues, minor oil consumption up to 500 miles, now doesn't burn oil at all.

With 62 miles it could have been driven hard on a test drive.....
