Dumb Question

Why is the automatic a closed system. Does nissan think were to stupid to check the auto fluid level. It would be nice to check even if it was to

Why is the automatic a closed system. Does nissan think were to stupid to check the auto fluid level. It would be nice to check even if it was to check the color of the fluid...........

The technology put into the transmission along with the synthetic oil they use? Makes it almost main free, BMW does this also.
Owners knowledge does not play a part in going this route, plus any future servicing will probably result in replacing the trans. That doesn't surprise me.

Yeah I guess if nissian thought we were all mindless idiots they would have sealed up the oil dip stick also. it would be nice to know if the fluid was breaking down before the trans did. gotta go with triple on that one

Wow, I didn't even know about that. Guess I should've read the owner's manual closer. I do check the oil every time I fill up. Old habits from driving the 5.0 for so many years. It burned a quart every 500 miles from day one.

The trans fluid doesn't need to be changed until 100k miles. And you can only fill it through the smaller port at the trans pan. You need a special adapter to fit the port. Good and bad. Good you don't need to service the fluid for awhile. Bad, I've seen a couple trans under filled from factory. Not by much but still under filled by about a quart to a quart and a half.
