This is just one of many threads... topic exhausted. I've not resolved my issues, but the problem is not as frequent with temps approaching 80s.

Thanks for the post, but that's not it. It's just a dip in acceleration every
time you're in first gear, right in the beginning. I don't think it's a problem,
just a characteristic of the engine

Did you try turning off VDC? Does it feel like VDC kicking in even though there are no LEDs lit? Are you able to rev it normally in neutral?

Most of us get this lag as well, but for me it's not just 1st gear. There are times I can punch it in other gears, and it feels like the throttle isn't opening up 100%. It feels like power isn't there under 3k RPM, which was a long time complaint until owners started wondering about the throttle lagging or not opening up fully or fast enough.

When I turn VDC off it's not as noticeable. I've owned both a manual
and an automatic, they both do it (and so does the G37 I've driven,
which convinces me it's just a characteristic of the engine). It does feel
like there's this dip in power after the first 1/2 second or so in
acceleration. Don't know about neutral, should be able to though

I wonder why Nissan dropped the RMPs in first gear, could be to protect the engine,
could be to prevent loss of traction on a launch

Shouldn't this show up on dyno charts?

<opinion>

I believe this to be some old tech making it's way into the the "new hotness". My CA18DET would not reach full boost in 1st gear. I assume this was for safety/reliability reasons. Once I installed a Power FC, things were different. I miss that car, /cry.

I'm thinking it has to be built in to prevent wheel spin for less experienced drivers -

I definitely think that Nissan has built in a slight delay to make power come on more smoothly and progressively, even with VDC off I have a hard time breaking the tires loose punching it in first or second while my friend's e36 M3 which dyno'ed 220rwhp and 225rwtq and he can break the tires loose in first and second. It just felt much more immediate and punchy even with 33% less power than my Z, not saying that it is your goal to loose traction though.

if you're goal is to go fast, then i guess it seems to make sense, if you're goal is to lose traction, then i guess its a bad thing
