Turns out if was air/moisture in the lines from 77k mile fluid burning off. No leaks and the service bulletin said use GT-R brake fluid. Though I may switch to Motul rbf 600.

I guess it was the equivalent to a baby having gas.

Great news! I run Motul in the entire drive and brakes. Be sure to change that nasty diff oil while you're at it.

So, finally I'm here...

My clutch started to lose pressure and usually after a long drive on highway it's not bouncing back. I took it to the dealer. Of course they changed the GTR fluid. I told them it should be the CSC or CMC issue but they said they didn't find any leaking and the service bulletin told them to change the fluid. What I could do...

After changing the fluid, the symptom got better. But the clutch was still soft and the friction point was still low and vague, especially on highway after a long drive. I took it back to the dealer. Maybe because the weather was getting colder, the technician said he couldn't reproduce the issue and refused to admit the soft and vague clutch feel.

So I'm wondering if my symptom is indicating a CSC failure (technician stated no leakage...).

I have 50k on the z, still under a certified pre-owned limited warranty, which is basically the same as the powertrain warranty. But the dealer said CSC was not under my warranty (they said they checked it in the labor opt) but only under gold premium warranty. Does that sound correct?

Thanks in advance!

I'd be setting a plan of action, i.e. a new upgraded CSC (either from Z1 or Zspeed) a new oem CMC, and if you're into performance mods, look into maybe upgrading your flywheel and clutch..

They've already told you your CSC wasnt covered under warranty (which is utterly ridiculous) and once it fails, they'll only want to replace it with another sh1tty oem one.. so if I were you, I'd be looking for a shop that will install an aftermarket one.. do it now while you're still on the road.

good luck bro.

In June 2015 my CSC died, at 30K miles. From this thread I knew that it was best to proactively replace the CMC at the same time, and the shop I went to swore they replaced the "entire clutch assembly." Every time I asked what "entire assembly" meant they just repeated that it was the whole thing -- everything involving the clutch. (I was very stupid and did not make them give me a detailed receipt/invoice: it just said "heavy duty clutch kit.") I figured I was good for the rest of the car's life.

22K miles and almost exactly two years later -- about 3 months ago -- the pedal started sticking again. The day before I was supposed to drive from DC to Cape Cod. I brought it back to the same shop (because s**t should last longer than two years), and it turns out that "entire clutch assembly" meant "except for the CMC." Most of the staff had turned over, and I had no way to prove that I'd asked about it/been given the impression it was replaced along with the CSC. This time I made them look up the details about what the "heavy duty clutch kit" included and give me a copy along with the invoice for the CMC replacement.

*sigh*

Thanks man. I need to think about it cause it's not a cheap fix. I love z but hate Nissan quality...

There has been an ongoing problem with the CSC, is there a comparison thread on aftermarket CSC from various manufacturers ? I'm in two minds whether to purchase another CSC and MC just in case the replaced set conks out without any warning. All in replacement was $383. So it was a bearable cost.

ZSpeed > Z1 when it comes to aftermarket CSC replacement options. ZSpeed also offers both an internal HD CSC or an external, self-adjusting delete kit. Just call up Joe at ZSpeed and he will answer any questions you might have.

I suppose that's just the parts cost? You didn't count the labor, did you?

Yeah the labor alone will cost you 2 to 3 times the cost of the parts..

The cost of CSC inclusive of labour was $383. It just take them about 3 hours to drop the transmission and replace the CSC.

Is this still an issue on the new models? I see people are still having problems, but it appears to still be 11-13 year models. Has this been addressed or is it still only a matter of time on my '17? I'm at 5700 and some change, brand new.
