Sticky: (Official) 370Z Clutch Pressure (CSC) Failures

The bigger thing is cost, you look at what it would take to replace this CSC, of course Nissan wants NO part in getting this issue resolved. It would cost

I really like your efforts. If I can help in any way let me know. I already put a complaint to the Nissan Affairs and the other site NT something I cant remember. Also put a big complaint in their Nissan FB Page.

Hopefully I can get a hold of Channel 6 here in the East Coast so they can do an investigation and put it on national TV.

Thanks. It's going to be easy to bring attention to the problem at car events. It will be similar to Tailgating. I have a canopy, and can setup easy. I may change the canopy top to display a big yellow lemon. They'll be plenty of reference to the CSC issue & Nissans response, as well as sign up sheet for those owners who have had the same failures.

smart man.. very very smart. just make sure you have your facts together, using that spreadsheet would be a good place to start.. and if you're not mechanically inclined, I would get with JARblue and use his expertise as a reference, or a point of contact for that news affiliate to speak with.

Here are some pics of the adjustment. The biggest thing is the nut is a lock nut, so a ratcheting wrench is helpful. Take note of the washers and remove the bolt. The second pic shows bolt and washers with the nut almost removed. The third pic shows the threaded rod with the bolt removed. Loosen the two nuts to rotate the threaded rod 1/2 turn (might need 1 full turn depending on the clutch plate wear). Then tighten up the nuts on the threaded rod and reinstall the bolt and lock nut. Piece of cake

woah now ... there are plenty of people far more qualified than me to speak on behalf of Z owners about this issue

Your post got me thinking. If they were only going to replace the CSC, then the work order should say close to the same thing mine did. Just a thought

Except that yours has N/C beside everything, including the CLEED Screw! Gotta get me one of them!

I'm hoping when they say clutch replacement, it is a blanket term to cover everything. Otherwise I'll be back at square one if they don't replace the CSC. Regardless I can guarantee they won't be doing the work. If they can't diagnose it properly and detail the work, then they ain't doing it!

They did replace the fluid with GTR brake fluid yesterday. Clutch feels quite a bit different. Very little resistance when first applying pressure until about 3/4 of the way down. After several pumps it started feeling like normal. A quick check of the reservoir when I got home revealed the fluid is above the "max" line. I will probably grab a turkey baster and remove some before heading out on the road.

Any issue causing by over filling the fluid over the max line? I'm a bit over when I refilled mine a couple weeks back, no issues since then.

Mine felt the same way with the GTR fluid. But, mine started off feeling really light through the entire pedal travel, then firmed up as I drove it about 10 miles. Every day now if feels like it did before I got the fluid and CSC changed, but it does firm up beyond what it was before as I drive it. Strange..... Oh, and my fluid was also above the full line, but it has caused no problems at all. The cap does not force it up when pushing it down, so all is good.

This is exactly how my clutch pedal feels. It's loose when I first turn the car on. It isn't until the first 5-10 miles that the clutch pedal returns to its normal stiffness from the top all the way down to the bottom. Going to take it into Nissan tomorrow to see what they say.

Are you using GTR fluid?

Mine isn't light anymore after the initial drive after the fluid/CSC swap. Mine feels normal as it did before the swap, but does get a little more stiff while driving. It doesn't get too stiff however. Doesn't bother me at all, and I will take it over a soft/mushy pedal!

I'm not using GTR fluid, yet. I may request the dealer to put it in tomorrow and see what they say.

It is brake fluid and will expand as it heats up. Having it above the max line doesn't give it much room to expand before pressing on the lid. Probably don't want the extra pressure on the seals/o-rings

We did mAke it to Vegas with no issues

Drove my Z to San Diego and back yesterday/this morning. About 80 miles from home, pulling off the freeway for gas, my clutch pedal only came up halfway from the floor. After a few shifts it popped back up and felt normal. Then getting off the freeway at home it did the same thing. Guessing a failure is coming? I only have 21k miles. From what I've seen upgrade to z speed and also replace the mc? Anything else? Lame. I already bitched on the nissan fb page linked in this thread.
