Sticky: (Official) 370Z Clutch Pressure (CSC) Failures

Stock clutch should last forever if you are an experienced MT driver. I've never burnt out a clutch in my life.

I see no reason why you couldn't get over 100k on the factory clutch. Driving style makes a difference though.

When mine came out for the turbo build at 43k the mechanical asked me how recently I replaced it because he thought it was brand new.

Man, I was not expecting such quick responses so thank you for that. My srt4 clutch lasted me 100k and I used to beat on that a lot more than I have the 370 so I figured I was OK leaving the stocker but I just needed confirmation. So thanks guys.

Former SRT-4 owner myself. When I traded mine in on the Z, it had 103k on it and the factory clutch was just starting to go. Loved that car.

I still have mine. I changed the clutch because the throw out bearing fork was wearing out and I had the clutch pedal adjusted so far out it was preloading the clutch and making it slip. That was actually around 120k. It's got 162k on it now. It's not running perfect but it is still trucking along.

I wanted to keep mine too but it wasn't practical to have both. Car was full bolt-ons and just asking for a AGP .50 trim.

I'll tell you, you're pulling my heart strings. I was going to go 50 trim but my money wasn't cooperating. My SRT needs some pretty decent work to be appealing to anyone that doesn't already love srt4s. The motor smells like it's running rich even though my a/f gauge says its fine which makes me think the exhaust manifold may be leaking. The shocks are gone and it squeaks quite a bit. And also there is quite a bit of clear coat peel on the roof. Can somebody tell me why I still love this car?

I hear you. Towards the end of owning mine, the blower motor was shot so I had no A/C or heat. It squeaked like hell and I think some of the suspension needed replacing. However I owned the car for 7 years and 85,000 miles and it did what I needed it to. Also, it made all kind of crazy sounds when you put your right foot down!

Having the exact same symptoms of a failed csc. Took off shifter to second font on the gas and the petal sticks to the floor. Horrible burnt clutch smell. So I take it to the dealership I got it from and tell them what happened. Tell them I found this post on the forum. They say they found no leaks and I needed a fluid exchange that would be $205.xx. Told they they were crazy and my shop does it for 50. So I sent an email to the tech with a link of this page. And now they are wanting to charge me 105 for a diagnosis. WTF!!!

Hell yea.I still think I like my srt4 more than my 370 just due to how dramatic the experience is. The 370 is refined while the srt4 is raw. Not only that but the srt4 can pull from 2000rpm pretty god darn hard and the 370 has to be "on the pipe" as they say.

Fluid change to "GTR" fluid is the first thing the dealer will do. It's a band aid fix to the problem and will only buy you some time. Look into the aftermarket CSC options on here. It will cost you a bit but it's worth it in the long run.

I know exactly what you mean. I'd never say I like the Neon more as the Z is just an all around better car IMO but it definitely has it's own personality that is hard to match.

Well I hear that but my argument is I have a Nissan with 41000 on the odometer and I have a dodge with 162000 on the odometer. Which should be drivable and which should be waiting to be fixed?

Agree. I had a caliper seize up on my dodge at about 42k. **** happens. Knock on wood but I've had no issues so far with the Z. It only has 20k on it but so far so good.
