Which means since the clutch is on the outside of the transmission, it according to this source, falls in the 3/36 and not the 5/60 warranty. Got to love BS small writing. Either way it's covered under the TSB that is listed above :

NTB13-026A
Bulletin Date: Apr. 10, 2013
Component: Clutch assembly.
Bulletin Summary: Nissan: clutch pedal does not return to rest position.
Vehicles covered in this TSB: • 2009 Nissan 370Z
• 2010 Nissan 370Z
• 2011 Nissan 370Z

OK, I just had this happen for the first time this weekend.

The 3/36 warranty just expired but, it's a Certified Pre-Owned so I still have the 7yr/100k warranty.

Should I be covered?

CPO will cover everything the stock warranty does and in some cases will actually cover more than the factory warranty, less your deductible.

Sorry to bother you again but, are you certain about this?

I called a local Nissan dealer (Glendale, Ca.) and was told this would only be covered under the orig. 3/36, not under the CPO 7/100k... and he said that the CPO warranty is "very very basic coverage", not sure what he meant by that.

***Update...So, I called a couple other dealerships and finally found a helpful service mgr. @ Miller Nissan in Van Nuys. She told me to bring it in for inspection. If a leak is found all parts (including new GTR fluid) will replaced under the CPO warranty. If no leak is found, they'll bleed the system & put in the GTR fluid but, that will not be under warranty.

Btw, she said they don't need to drop out the tranny to determine if there's an internal leak.

As for the fluid swap not being under the CPO warranty. I'm going to argue that,
1) they should do it under the 'good will' policy since the orig. factory warranty just expired a few days ago.
2) Nissan has been aware of this issue since at least April of 2013. I bought the car in October 2013, the dealer, knowing this was a common issue, should've swapped out the clutch fluid before selling me the car. Especially considering this is a CPO Z.

Everyone that has had it fail needs to file a complaint for something to happen.

Update#2...took her to Miller Nissan in Van Nuys today.

They did their inspection and then told me they're bleeding the clutch and putting in the GTR 'special' brake fluid. They're giving me the 'good will' deal so, no charge (even though the orig. factory 3/36 warranty had just expired).

After changing the fluid, they'll re-test and if needed, replace the CSC and/or CMC at no charge to me.

I've got to give a shoutout to Linda in the service dept. @ Miller.
She's been very cool from my 1st phone call. Totally understanding too.
She also had her courtesy car drive me to work in Hollywood, which was well outside of their normal drop off radius.

If I ever have to go to a dealership again, it'll be Miller Nissan.

The GTR fluid will prolong the CSC failure, but it is not a fix. I'm speaking from experience!

Did they only replace the CSC or did they do the CMC as well?

They said they couldn't find any leaks (external or internal) when they inspected my Z.

I'm concerned that replacing the fluid only is just a temp. fix (as z man has noted)

I took my Z out after they did the fluid swap and drove her pretty hard but, the oil temp. never got above about 190f. When I initially had the problem, the oil temp was up around 220f.

If my CSC or CMC is gonna fail, I'd like it to happen while my CPO warranty is still active....I've got until 2017 and/or about 80k miles before it runs out.

I called my dealer, they said nothing is outstanding for my car... Wasn't there a TSB?

Home | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), file a complaint. There are so many post about this failure but so few people have filed a complaint. Unless people make it known that there is a problem, the problem will continue. IJS
