So many of us have had this issue, for so many years now. Under warranty or not, it's a potential safety issue and I encourage everyone with a failed CSC to file a complaint at the NHTSA site, and use keywords like "Loss of control" "potential for injury / harm / death" "negligence" as I did. It takes 10 minutes. Leave the anger of the bad dealership experience out of the report and focus on the keywords. Nissan has been deliberately non-responsive to improve the part because it is SO expensive to pay the dealership to drop the transmission and replace this stupid plastic POS. And just because it's not a Taketa airbag exploding and causing harm doesn't mean that one of us Z-lovers out there won't hurt ourselves or a loved one when this Fu*&ing part fails at highway speed during an emergency maneuver. Love my car, but doubt I'll ever spend this kind of $ on a Nissan again.

That sounds more like you're out of clutch fluid. Most CSC failures that I've read on here went down and stayed down.

This seems to be happening to my 2010. First symptoms were after a weekend of sitting in the garage. Monday morning at oh dark thirty clutch depresses a long ways before about an inch of resistance and disengagement. I drive to work in a mental fog and wonder if this is how it has been for the 36k miles Ive driven. I get home, resevoir is empty...fill it with some fluid, start it, drive it around, seems better. Same if not worse this morning, fluid is full. Its 5 and a half with 36,200 miles on it. How much is this gonna cost? I got some aftermarket lifetime powertrain, engine and tranny warranty the dealership gives out as their gimmick. I doubt it will cover.
What Ive gathered is to buy the 100 dollar aftermarket online, Love to have a link, have the stealership drop the tranny to replace? This is gonna get steep. Already had to do the steering lock hack when I yanked the fuse out. I know its almost 6 but being a 2 seat in a family of 4, it literally hauls my butt back and forth to work 12 miles round trip. Now to vent on the 100k pathfinder with a timing chain you can hear from space Edit: Since there was zero fluid in the res, Im sure there is an air bubble to be found? Bleed the system see if it buys me some more time? Better fluid etc or just throwing good after bad Begvis Last edited by begvis; 04-19-2016 at 06:19 AM. Reason: / |

So the clutch went down today...still a bit movement on it, but I pumped it a few times and then it came back up. Clutch fluid or should I be worried about upcoming failure of my CSC? 2013 36k miles on it, i've got the rjm clutch pedal.

Your csc is failing. I ordered a hd version from z1 and had a shop install it. Was 360 for part and 495 labor. Said the bellhousing had all my clutch fluid and showed me where csc failed.

Blah, don't really want to shell out $ if warranty covers it, power train is 5yr 60k, might just go that way.

If you can get them to fix it under powertrain, good job. Seems like most on here cant get it covered except under 3/36. Nissan did tell me when he was quoting price that he would put the same part in and it would most likely fail again. He suggested i buy the heavy duty and have nissan install it. Ofc you would be on the hook for the better part, minus their cost of the stock part, but if you can get them to pay for labor...well done.
If you do have the same symptoms as me. You most likely have an undrivable z as i type. From first symptoms to total doa, was 10 miles B |

Mine just went out at 63,000 miles. I had the powertrain preferred Nissan warranty. Warrranty specifies that it includes transmission casing and all internal parts. They said that the part was in the bellhousing not the transmission case.-($$$) There is no exclusion or mention of the clutch's hydraulic system throughout the warranty. When I bought the warranty from the dealership I specifically asked them that my warranty cover this failure......it fails then they dont cover it. Ugh, I did my research and still got F'd in the A.

Is this the warranty you have?
https://owners.nissanusa.com/content...s/Extended.pdf https://owners.nissanusa.com/content...ge%20Guide.pdf Search for item 30620 in the 2nd pdf. That's the clutch slave. Never heard of a preferred Nissan warranty. Is this back by nissan or a third party dealer warranty? Rather than taking their word for it, look over the terms of your warranty. If it's not in the exclusions, it should be covered. Edit: I see you're in chicago, which dealer did you buy from? edit2: Found this, http://www.nissanusa.com/content/dam...Powertrain.pdf I think this is what you have, right? Your dealer really needs to bat for you. The slave, while not an internal part of the manual trans, is none the less part of the transmission on a manual car. The MT car does not have a torque converter, vacuum modulator, etc. Contact nissan NA and bitch about this. If it's not covered it should be clearly spelled out as a non covered item like the clutch friction disc is (item 8.2 in the pdf I linked above).

Our socal media page is getting more attention, but Nissan still didn't take any action.
People buying 370z are risking to be enslaved into concentric loops of talking to consumer affairs and dealerships and the best way to get out so far is to buy HD cylinder and expose the situation. https://www.facebook.com/Nissan-Conc...4563461609835/ |
