Mobil 1 is not bad oil, it's just the temperature range is not designed for the car!

This will help with that issue but if its not designed for that high of temp then ppl who race shouldnt use it:

I was talking about 5W20, 20 grade oil are thinner than 5W30. The # is determined by some geeks at SAE, I don't make it up. I wouldn't use it on the 370 unless you really want thin oil and try to save a drop of gas. RX-8 went to a 5w20 recommendation in the states in order to get out of the gas guzzler bracket. There is a reason why most people lose their engine before 100K while my old 90 went 220K on the original engine.

Synthetic oil can handle 300F before it starts to break down, that is a fact. The question is, how thin would the oil get at that point?

Mobil 1 is fine to use. Synthetics should be fine to upwards of 400 degrees

my bad, i thought you were talking about the brand. da** thats a lot of miles. Heres a good Q. so the car isnt going to reach 300F on the strip or on a drive but autox and road racing is different...ive herd many complaint about hitting 300+ after only 10min-15min and that is rediculous. so ppl that do autox and roadrace with no oil cooler or ppl, that for some reason hit these hi temps on the strip( i hit 210 max) should they try the 15w40 or just a heavier thicker oil?? also the ppl that are using F.I. setups...should/can they use that thicker oil and NOT lose power?? i was thinkin about this at work, just a im curious to know question:tup:

15w is too thick for the cold. Don't you watch the commercials about how most wear comes at start up? Do you really want your motor to lack lubrication when it is cold?

Here is a simple test, buy a bottle of 15W40 and 5W30 and 0W20 of the same brand, then pour it and see how much different they flow and you will see the difference.

I hit 240F in traffic before the oil cooler
