The z06 will smoke you and look metal doing it. You'll be able to take the Evo unless it has a few mods or a tune -- though I doubt anyone would bother getting tuned with no mods, so you are probably safe.

You'll probably tear the Evo a new one from a roll, but watch while he spends $500 on an AccessPort and rips you a new one in return a week later. lol |
I have owned all of the cars you are discussing, an Evo, a 2004 z06, and I currently have a z. My evo had a tune and exhaust, and from a dig it would probably have raped my z. The Z06 I had cammed, exhaust, injectors, tune and a little go juice, but even when it was stock, It would for sure have taken the z. The only chance you have would be to hope the Evo driver doesnt drive very well. The z06 wont even be a good race, especially if he had some decent tires. In all honesty, the Z really isnt a very fast car. :driving:

I can't comment from a dig, but I've had no problem with an exhaust Evo X from a roll, it wasn't even a drivers race since it was an MR Evo (paddle shift). All in all I must agree, the Z isn't the greatest drag car in stock form. Bolt on's help but if you want a straight line fast car buy the new mustang or camaro.

20-45 in 370=2.8 sec (in 2nd gear)
20-45 in 400HP C6=2.2 (in 2nd gear, 1st was 1.8 or 1.9, depended on traction) 20-45 in EVO X with just a flash=2.6 sec (in 2nd gear) |
#'s are nice but I'm telling you I took the Evo by almost 3 cars from mid 2nd gear through the end of 4th. This was when I was still stock, now it wouldn't be a race I'd even take part in. Besides a few guys I chat with at the local car scene all say that the Evo X is a reliability nightmare. The car wasn't meant to handle large increases in power for long periods of time without an extensive build. One guy who made about 400whp broke 3 driveshafts, now that sucks.

Ill let you guys decide from these links but im certain the 370z will win fairly easily with a good take off i only see it being close on take off, after second the evo will fall back.

Stock for stock, I think I should be able to take the Evo X. We are both similar in driving skills. The z06 will be a different story, but I would still like to try it.

Reminds me of the time I ran an M6 at the track. Oh man that was lovely. |
I ran an Evo 8 in my Trans Am a while back. From a dig they refused to go, lol. Wanted it from a ROLL!
I put busses on that car. Dunno how they compare to the X's though. I drove a 370Z and it felt a little slower than my WS6 did. maybe it was just due to having no torque. Either way, it felt good, but a HAIR slower I thought. I am pretty sure the Z06 is going to kill you. Launching an AWD car isn't as easy as it sounds. I think you will take the Evo. The Z's have no torque and wide-tires. As long as you let the clutch out properly I would think it is pretty spin-proof so after you get rolling, ur G2G. The 5.0 will need forced induction or larger displacement or weight reduction or a stalled auto to get into the 12's by much. The most powerful NA 302 I have seen on the street is around 320whp. Keith Craft and I discussed it at length back when I had my '88GT. |
